Credit for Prior Learning
What is Credit for Prior Learning? Credit for Prior Learning is credit granted to a student by MSU Moorhead for learning that has taken place prior to admission at MSUM and outside of an accredited post-secondary environment, and therefore is not included on a transcript. Typically this learning takes place as a result of job or volunteer experience. Credit is granted when sufficient documentation of this learning is presented and evaluated as college level learning. Credit cannot be evaluated in subject matter areas in which MSU Moorhead does not have faculty evaluators. Credit for Prior Learning is not provided for graduate credit.
Who may apply for Credit For Prior Learning? Any student who has been admitted to a degree program at MSU Moorhead and has completed a minimum of 16 credits with satisfactory academic standing can apply. Adult special status does not constitute admission to a degree program; any other admission status is fine for this purpose. Satisfactory academic standing normally means a grade point average of 2.00 or better. The 16 credits must be in graded courses; credits taken as pass/fail will not be part of the 16 required credits.
