Customized Credit Courses

We will work with organizations like yours that may need an educational course designed specifically for their members or employees. If credit and grades for the course is important, certain requirements must be met:

Sufficient depth and breadth in the subject is necessary, which means at least 15 contact hours is required before one credit can be offered.

In addition, the instructor must meet certain academic requirements indicating advanced academic study in the field.

Students are also expected to complete research or work outside the classroom.

Depending on the course, Continuing Education Units for non-credit courses may be more appropriate. Another option is to provide non-credit CEUs in addition for a credit course. Note, a participant cannot take a course for both credit and CEUs.

Examples:

Continuing Studies has worked with Lakes Country Service Cooperative, Moorhead Area Public Schools, and others to provide credit for customized courses.

Courses like Resources for Working with the Elderly for human service professionals such as social workers, counselors, and nurses have been offered for both credit and non-credit.
