Information About Self-Paced Courses

Continuing Studies offers a number of MSUM regular courses compiled in a self-paced format. Self- Paced courses are often beneficial to the non-traditional students, especially those who live too far away from campus to attend face-to-face courses. Here are some things you should know before registering for a self-paced course.

1.  Students who have never taken self-paced courses may believe it is easier than attending class. However, these courses may be more difficult in a self-paced format than in a classroom setting.

2.  These courses generally take as much or more time to complete with student-determined deadlines.

3.  Because packaged courses are designed for completion with minimal or no face-to-face contact, there are generally more writing assignments to compensate.
