The Northern Plains Conference on Aging and Disability Resilience and Wisdom Through Aging
CEUs
The CEU (Continuing Education Unit) is a unit of measurement used throughout the United States by educational institutions to record participation in structured learning activities outside of traditional academic credit programs. CEUs are given for non-credit education programs. One CEU is awarded for each 10 hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience. Some professions use clock hours or contact hours instead of the term CEUs.
CEUs are available for the Northern Plains Conference on Aging and Disability through MSUM Continuing Studies for an additional fee of $10.00. Because many people aren’t able to attend the entire conference, there are three options for earning CEUs at NPCAD.
1.Tuesday evening Kick-off event only = 1.5 contact hours (based on 60 minutes) or 2. Either Wednesday or Thursday attendance for the entire day = 5.5 contact hours (based on 60 minutes) or
3. Entire
conference attendance = hours dependent on type
A CEU registration form may be printed and brought to the conference with payment. it will also be available at the conference. Payment and application will be accepted on site only.
CEUs have been approved as follows: - General 12.5 contact hours or 1.2 CEUs - ND Board of Social Workers 15 contact hours or 1.5 CEUs - MN Board of Social Work 12.5 clock hours or 1.2 CEUs - ND Board of Nursing 12.0 contact hours * - ND Board of Counselor Examiners 15.0 contact hours - MN and ND Nursing Home Administrators 12.5 hours
You will need to pick up a Verification of Attendance form at the MSU Moorhead table at the conference to keep track of the sessions you attend. This form will then need to be returned at the end of the conference so the certificate can be finalized. Your CEU certificate will indicate the total number of contact hours and CEUs earned.
* The Minnesota Board of Nursing confirmed that this approval applies for MN nurses, “Any continuing education courses approved by another nursing board or agency are acceptable courses for continuing education.” ND Board of Nursing uses the formula of 60 minutes = 1 contact hour. The Minnesota Board of Nursing uses the formula of 50 minutes = 1 contact hour. This means that for MN nurses, the event would be approved for 15 contact hours.
Special Accommodations This conference is being held in an accessible facility. Persons needing accommodations, auxiliary aides, or special dietary arrangements should contact Russ Sunderland at 1-800-260-1310.
