General Information
Desire2Learn (D2L) is an instructional management system. It provides a collection of tools that are useful for classroom-based courses, hybrid-delivered courses, and online courses. Your students can access the course via a web browser from anywhere in the world. You can make changes to your course using a web browser from anywhere in the world as well.
Tools included within the D2L system include:
- Content: online posting of documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, pictures, sounds, movie clips, etc. in a secure, password-protected environment. There is also an online glossary tool and an online calendar tool.
- Assessment tools: online testing / quizzing, online surveys, electronic drop box, grade book, tracking of progress
- Communication tools: online discussions, interactive chat, pager, news, calendar
- Support for Group Collaboration: group discussion areas, view gradebook by group, etc.
- Other: student locker where students can privately store their documents
