Jessup Delbert Yazzie was born Dec. 7, 1998 to Larry Yazzie of the Meskwaki/Dine Nations and to Kaye Annis of the Lakota Nation.

Jessup has been dancing since he could walk, his first dance style was the grass dance style of dancing. Then when he turned 3 years old he was able to carry the fancy dance bustle, so that he could dance the Northern style fancy dance just like his hero, his father, who is a Northern style fancy dancer.

Jessup's first great award was at the Worlds Largest Powwow held in Albuquerque New Mexico in April 2003 where he placed first as the Tiny Tot Champion out of 50 or more other little boys and girls. Recently Jessup has been competing in the Junior division at powwows across the United States and Canada and consistently placing in the top three with 7-12 year old boys. His first Junior Division win came at the 2005 Rosebud Fair.

Jessup has also been performing with his father for schools, colleges, and theatres across the Nation with such acts as The Kevin Locke Trio, Keith Secola and The Wild Band of Indians, Mickey Free, and The Native Pride Dancers. In 2004-2005 Jessup toured nationally in Spirit: The Seventh Fire. Jessup also appeared with his father in the 2005 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Jessup's love for dancing comes from his heart and this shines through with each performance.

He is a natural on stage, and when the lights come on and its time for him to show his new moves, you can't help but be amazed at the energy he gives, as he becomes one with drum and nothing else matters to him but that moment when he can show his new moves.

His professionalism has always been complimented by stage hands and teachers wherever he goes. And the performers he dances with are great inspirations to him.

When Jessup is not performing or dancing at Pow-Wows his other passions are basketball, baseball, football, and hockey.

Currently Jessup is a resident in the Mpls/St. Paul metropolitan area where he was born.
