CAST BIOS

LARRY YAZZIE (Meskwaki/Dine). Mr. Yazzie is a Fancy Dancer, Singer, Flute Player, and Hoop Dancer with the company. He has previously performed with the Woodland Singers and Dancers, the Discover Native American Dance Troupe, Lakota Dance Troupe, Foxwoods Dance Troupe, and the Kevin Locke Trio.

     

JESSUP YAZZIE (Meskwaki/Dine/Lakota). Mr. Yazzie is a Fancy Dancer with the company. He has previously performed with the Kevin Locke Trio and Spirit-The Seventh Fire.

     

JOCY BIRD (Mandan/Hidasta/Arikara/Dakota). Ms. Bird is a Women’s Fancy Dancer, Jingle Dress Dancer, and Hoop Dancer with the company. She has previously performed with the Solaris Dance Theater and Spirit-The Seventh Fire.

     

ERIK GOODING. Mr. Gooding is a Fancy Dancer, Grass Dancer, Hoop Dancer, and Flute Player with the company. He has previously performed with the Pisco Dancers and Singers and the Kevin Locke Trio.

     

BUCK JOHNSON (Alabama-Coushatta). Mr. Johnson is a Fancy Dancer, Singer, and Flute Player with the company. He has previously performed with Spirit-the Seventh Fire and the American Indian Dance Theater.

     

WENDELL POWLESS (Ojibwe). Mr. Powless is a Traditional Dancer and Singer with the company. He is an accomplished dancer and singer has sung with many of the elite championship singing groups on the Northern Plains of the United States and Canada. He has previously performed with Spirit: The Seventh Fire.

     

ERIC SHEPARD (Dakota/Arikara). Mr. Shepard is a Grass Dancer and Fancy Dancer with the company.

     

JIM THUNDER HAWK (Oglala Lakota). Mr. Thunder Hawk serves as the primary Master of Ceremonies (Eyapaha) for the company. He has previously performed with the Shakopee Mdewakantonwan Community Dance Troupe.

PATTY THUNDER HAWK (Ho-Chunk/Dakota). Mrs. Thunder Hawk is a Northern Women’s Traditional Dancer.

     

DANA WARRINGTON (Menomini/Prairie Band Potawatomi). Mr. Warrington is a Traditional Dancer and a Chicken Dancer with the company. He has previously performed with Spirit Dance and the American Indian Dance Theater.
