She is really awesome because she know's students by name and makes an effort to greet them, and there are some students who visit her line so often (that's our table!) that she knows them by name! She is always so super friendly whenever she sees you and always asks how people are doing. She deserves to be recognized for being such a worker and for all the hard work that she does

Reason: I would like to nominate Aaron Correll for Exec of the Month. This past month he has done an outstanding job of organizing two major activities for RHA. He made the Who's Your Daddy Bowling event a fun and successful evening. In addition, he organized, set up, provided staff, and helped clean up for another fun and successful event, Casino Night. He organized both of these events with a positive attitude and tons of energy. Because he was excited about these events, those who participated were also excited. It is my pleasure to nominate Aaron for Exec of the Month. He has earned it!

Reason: Aaron is a great President. He does such a wonderful job and works so hard to represent the guys of Ballard. In the past month he put on a Halo 2 tournament for the guys of Ballard, and put on a Poker tournament for RHA. This guy works really hard and gives so much to both Ballard HC and RHA. His enthusiasm for Ballard is unforgettable. The other night a map was being drawn at RHA and Ballard was forgotten so Aaron went up there and added Ballard, he makes sure that people don't forget about Ballard, even though Ballard is across the street from the rest of the Residence Halls. He always has a positive attitude and is so willing to give of his time and talents. Aaron really deserves recognition, a pat on the back for a job well done and definetely deserves to be this month's Executive Board member of the month!!!!

Date Submitted: 3/31/2005 11:23:32 PM
Reason: Katie is an active member of 2nd North Dahl. She knows a lot of the floor and says hi to everyone and as a freshman was very excited to meet people and get involved. Last semester we talked about getting t-shirts for our floor but it didn't get too far. After break she came back second semester and had people fill out a survey on the colors that they wanted on their shirts and asked a member of our floor to draw a design for the front and also went to Sportland to get price estimates. She put up a sign-up sheet and also signs to collect the money and when she got the tshirts, she handed them out right away. She put a lot of work into this and did it all by herself, because no one else took the initiative. Without this girl we would not have gotten floor shirts. She is a great member of our floor, she was involved with hall council for part of the year and is also a member of the lacrosse team. She is a great person who is there to listen when you need some to talk to, especially about boys. I met this girl shortly after the beginning of the school year and I have been very impressed by her, she loves meeting new people, being involved and getting the most out of college. I have enjoyed getting to know her. She is very friendly and knows a lot of the girls on our floor, she definetely deserves this award for all her hard work and being such an awesome person.

Reason: Wow - the day after spring break I walked into Kise for lunch and had my card scanned and Kise Jean said Thank You, I heard the thank you and it took a few seconds to register before I was like whoa!! this is different, she hasn't always been here, she is BACK!!!! I was so excited to see her, Kise is just not the same with out her. She impacts so many students. No staff at Kise can scan id cards as quickly and efficiently as her. She does it with a smile and says thank you to everyone. There's just something about the way she says thank you that is so familiar and comforting - it makes my day and I am sure that it makes other people happy as well. I love this lady, she is so sweet and so nice to everyone that eats in Kise. Kise made it without her, but it just wasn't the same and now shines because she is back. We've all missed Kise Jean - she brightens our day because she is so fast with the ids and so sweet - that is awesome. She deserves to be this months Spotlight of the Month becasue we've missed her and need to let her know how much she means to us, and that she is truly one special lady :)

Reason: Because Don has done an amazing job cleaning Holmquist and he put up with a lot of crap (literally) that he should not have to put up with. Reason: Kate is such an upbeat and energetic person. She is always baking sweets and sharing them with her fellow floor mates and RA. She is also 3rd East Holmquist's Hall Council Represenative and she was at almost every meeting this semester and not because she HAD to go, but because she WANTED to go!

Date Submitted: 4/30/2005 11:17:46 AM
Reason: I am a freshman at MSUM and have lived in Holmquist since August. I truly believe that I could not have picked a better place to live. The best friends that I have made since coming to college have all been from my floor. Above all, we, as a floor, could not have asked for a better R.A. JoDee Pepple has been there for us through the thick and the thin. I have come to her to tell her my problems and to share a good day with her. She has involved the floor in a variety of activities for us to get to know eachother. The girls on the floor all get along very well too. I feel that I know many of the girls very well and that we get along very well too. I really enjoy their company and enjoy spending time with them. I hope to keep in touch with many of the wonderful people in my Holmquist community in the future because they are the biggest part of what has made my first year at college so amazing.

Date Submitted: 9/10/2005 4:10:43 AM
Reason: I would like to nominate the Holmquist GMW, Don, for Spotlight of the month. Over the course of the past few weeks, every time I have seen Don he has had a smile on his face. He is always eager to have a conversation about the day's happenings. Not only is he always fun to talk to, but Holmquist has been nothing but extrememly clean since our arrival here and I think that shows just how much Don cares about the building and the people living in it.

Nominated By: Corey Schaffer
Nominated Address: 276 Holmquist Hall
Nominated Phone: 5934
Nominated Email: schaffco@mnstate.edu
Date Submitted: 9/10/2005 4:16:46 AM
Reason: I would like to nominate Abdullahi "Moe" Mohamed for Resident Assistant of the Month. School has just begun and Moe has already developed an amazing relationship with many of the guys on his floor. I have yet to see Moe walk into the building without people shouting his name moments later. Moe is never anything but caring and charasmatic and I cannot imagine there is a person who has met him who wouldn't feel comfortable going to him for help. I don't think Moe gets nearly enough recognition for how hard he works every day and he surely deserves to be acknowledged for the great Resident Assistant that he is.

Nominee: Kristie Feist
Nominee Address: NGH Area Director
Nominee Phone: 2709
Nominee Email: feistkr@mnstate.edu
Nominated By: Corey Schaffer
Nominated Address: 276 Holmquist Hall
Nominated Phone: 5934
Nominated Email: schaffco@mnstate.edu
Date Submitted: 9/10/2005 4:39:39 AM
Reason: I find it hard to believe that you could find another Advisor on campus that cares as much about the wellbeing of students as Kristie Feist does. Kristie sincerely cares about the happiness, success, and feelings of camaraderie that the students in the Residence Halls should experience. Her optimism and concern for MSUM students is passed down to the Resident Assistants that she supervises. Kristie takes her position very seriously and I believe that there is very little she would not do to ensure that every student living in the Residence Halls has the opportunity to experience all of the fantastic things that living on campus has to offer. As this year progresses, Kristie will continue to promote a feeling of community in the Residence Halls; helping her and her team of Resident Assistants to give students an amazing experience that they could not have gotten anywhere else besides the Residence Halls. I have seen numerous times that no matter what the situation, Kristie will always do what she believes to be best for the students of MSUM.

Reason: This is was a community program that Corey put together. He initated the weight room project to benefit the residents living in Holmquist, but also as way to have the residents get to know each other from other floors. It isn't done yet but all the work done has been an inprovment.

Nominee: Allyssa Euteneuer
Nominee Address: 154 Dahl
Nominee Phone: 5183
Nominee Email: kittycatmeow@hotmail.com
Nominated By: Leslie Ince
Nominated Address: 143 Dahl
Nominated Phone: 4995
Nominated Email: incele@mnstate.edu
Date Submitted: 9/21/2005 3:16:48 PM
Reason: Allyssa has been a great addition to my floor. She has been involved with all of my floor programs and usually facilitates activities on the floor. She has made so many new friends on the floor and if it weren't for her I probably wouldn't have known so many people. She always has a good attitude and is willing to drive our floor mates to different programs. She just drove us to a movie as a floor program. She usually is around when she is needed by us. I couldn't think of a better resident of the month for Dahl than Allyssa Euteneuer.
Of The Month Type: program
Nominee: RHA
Nominee Address: 10 Dahl Hall
Nominee Phone:
Nominee Email: rha@mnstate.edu
Nominated By: Leslie Ince
Nominated Address: 143 Dahl
Nominated Phone: 4995
Nominated Email: incele@mnstate.edu
Date Submitted: 9/21/2005 3:23:09 PM
Reason: Social Activity. RHA recently put on a BBQ and casino night. They are amazing at putting on such big events. At the BBQ I saw groups sitting around socializing. I was a cook and I was having fun and enjoying what I was doing. There was also volleyball that people were enjoying. Casino Night was a blast. People were learning how to play and others were winning and socializing. The prizes were awesome. They really know how to throw a silent auction. RHA should get social program of the month because they got people out of their rooms and having a good time.

Nominated By: Leslie Ince
Nominated Address: 143 Dahl
Nominated Phone: 4995
Nominated Email: incele@mnstate.edu
Date Submitted: 9/21/2005 3:27:43 PM
Reason: Kellie Meehlhause has proven to her hall council that she is a real trooper. Kellie was president at the beginning of the semester because no one else would run. She had Advo production on Tues., the same time as RHA, but she willingly sacrificed her time and energy to go to RHA instead of going to ADVO. The reason she resigned is because her boss was getting on her case. She had to help out with the RHA BBQ and casino night. She was a real joy to listen to. She didn't want to resign, but circumstances were out of her control. Kellie would be a great exec board member of the month because she was willing to sacrifice her time and energy so that Dahl could be keep the traditions that the hall council has today.

Nominated Address: 143 Dahl
Nominated Phone: 4995
Nominated Email: incele@mnstate.edu
Date Submitted: 9/21/2005 3:32:09 PM
Reason: Alright, 4th South Snarr is not my floor, but from all that I hear, I think it should be floor of the month. The residence of 4th South Snarr are always hanging out. I mean they have huge halo parties that need to moved into the lounge because they are just so socially active. The floor dies down a bit when some of the key residents go home for the weekend, but they are usually out and about having a good time. The residents on the floor are always hanging out in other people's rooms. They just knock and come in to the room when people are there. I would love to have a floor like that where everyone is hanging out and having a good time. They guys are even teaching the girls how to play halo, I mean that's cool. That's why I think 4th South Snarr should be community of the month.

Date Submitted: 9/22/2005 11:12:59 AM
Reason: Jessalyn should be student of the month because she has gone out of her way to get to know the others on our floor. She wanted someone to go to Kise with her the other night and I could not go, so she went around door to door until she found someone who could go with her. She almost always has her door open and is always a smiling, friendly face, no matter what time of day it is when I see her!

Nominee: Jessica Morin
Nominee Address: 343 Dahl
Nominee Phone: 5142
Nominee Email: monkys26@yahoo.com
Nominated By: Leslie Ince
Nominated Address: 143 Dahl
Nominated Phone: 4995
Nominated Email: incele@mnstate.edu
Date Submitted: 9/23/2005 2:43:23 PM
Reason: Jessica is a first year RA, and as such she has really impressed me this month. When we had the tornado sirens going on she really took charge of Dahl. She called all of the RA's and got them to get their floors down into the basement. She made sure that everyone who was in the building was in the basement. She also impressed me when she also took charge and made all of the girls quiet down so she could make an important announcement. After that we found water on the floor because of the rain. As we all know Dahl floods a lot. She was able to catch most of the water coming into the basement and we really didn't have much of a tragedy on our hands because of it. Also, in the beginning of the year she was having difficulty with girls vandalizing her floor. She has been firm with her girls about this issue and has still be able to make those key connections with her residents that need to be there to build community. I think Jessica Morin should be the RA OTM because of her ability to take charge and keep calm in stressful situations, and while being firm, is able to shape and maintain those needed relationships with her residents.

Reason: I am nominating Kristie because I believe she is one of the best advisors on campus. Kristie's employees have such opposite working styles and Kristie does a great job of meeting all of their needs and supporting their styles. Additionally Kristie is always enthusiastic with her staff and with the residents who live in the Nelson/Grantham/Holmquist complex. Kristie does a great job of making peoples' days and giving her attention to everyone she works with no matter how many other tasks she has to do that day. Kristie has a style and grace that is all her own and I am proud to be working for her. So, please consider awarding her the NRHH advisor of the month award.

Reason: NGH Hall Council's PR committee recently made some amazing advertising for the upcoming homecoming events. They spent about 3 hours one evening hand-making posters and then personally visited every floor in NGH to hang them all up. The posters were really informational and colorful. They did a great job getting people excited for homecoming week and it was really exciting to see new students so excited about making a difference in the residence halls. The PR committee just formed, but has already shown great enthusiam and made NGH hall council proud to call them ours!

He is putting on programs, doing door decs and getting the word out about on-campus activities to his residents. Reason: During this last month Jessica has been doing a great job as an RA. She has been doing things with her girls, activities in general and programs. She is also a very alert RA. On night, knowing that Dalh has the tendency to leak, and that it was raining hard, she went down the basement to check, and sure enough it was leaking. She promptly took action and saved the DABA staff a lot of trouble by catching it early. This level-headeness is comendable. She also finds time to eat with her residents, to get to know them on a first name basis and even has inside jokes with them. She is doing a wonderful job on her floor and staff in general.

Reason: Leslie did a wonderful job at the recent RHA blazin' BBQ. Not only did she volunteer to grill, she stood over that hot grill and made some of the best hamburgers I have ever tasted. It was a hot day and she did a great job. Many people at the event where impressed with her determination. Not only did she stand over a hot grill, she also retained her sense of humor the whole time. As a returner on the DABA staff, Leslie has been doing many wonderful things, giving people Email reminders about weeklies, reminders about nominations for NRHH, etc. She also is quick to point out others for recognition, every wednesday night at staff she has recognition for someone, usually several someones. As a memeber of her community, Leslie has been putting on programs, making door decs and getting to know her girls very well. Leslie has been doing a great job and putting in lots of effort.

Reason: Heather has done an excellent job of creating community on her floor. Before the halls opened, Heather put paper bags up in her lounge, and when the residents arrived she had them each write their name on and decorate a bag. She encouraged the residents to leave each other 'happy fun notes' in the bags and, even though she became frustrated when only a few residents began to use them, she none the less continues to promote the idea (Use of the bags has picked up!). I believe that the bags provided a comfortable atmosphere for the residents that helped create them; there is always a group of residents hanging out in the lounge as proof. Heather had an idea for 'whiteboard' door decs that required a huge time committment, but she was so excited to give the residents a nice first door dec that she rushed to finish them before opening; they are fabulous and all of the residents love them. She has made a sincere effort to connect with all of her residents, and notices even minor changes in their lives. She has already held six programs on her floor and two or three meetings. She has also already implemented a community service program at Habitat for Humanity with five of her residents. Her floor has designed and ordered floor t-shirts and are currently planning a camping trip. When a resident on Heather's floor has a birthday, the entire floor is well aware of it; Heather hangs signs all over the floor reminding everyone to wish the girl a happy birthday! This not only lets the residents know whose birthday it is, but also makes the resident feel acknowledged and therefore special. Heather has also dealt with several serious issues on her floor this year, and has thrown herself into her position by providing a crucial emotional outlet to many of her residents. With her constant smile and optimistic personality, Heather is an overall excellent candidate for RA of the month.

Reason: Community is a great word to describe the relationship of a residence hall floor. Definition according to dictionary.com: A group of people living in the same locality and under the same government. When I think about the group of people that live on the floor of second south snarr I think of a different word – family. This floor is incredibly outgoing and has become very close in such a short time. They always eat together, rather there is always someone willing to eat with you. If one group of people goes to Kise, another group from our floor will already be there, or another group will come to Kise while you are there. Or if you try to eat by yourself, it doesn’t happen. One day at lunch I sat down at a table by myself and next thing I knew there were 8 other people there, I think about 6 of them had come to Kise together, but still. I have never lived on a floor that has been so open and where I truly know everyone. Well not quite everyone (When I say that our floor is outgoing I am talking about 80%) These people all know each other. Like one girl put it the other day, this floor is kind of like a family and I agree. I went to Chicago the third weekend of school for four days and I was sad that I wasn’t going to be able to see them for that long – because it was the longest that I had ever been away from them. There is always someone to talk to, the doors are always open, and people are always ready to talk. For example it was about 3am and I was trying to read in the lounge one night – I was there for about 15 minutes and four people had come in and said hi. Did I mention that our floor never sleeps either? One can be up at around 2AM and sometimes over half the floor is still up. This past week I tried to study in the study room with two other people, next thing I knew there were four other people in there talking to us…what is this the lounge?….you are never truly alone on the floor. One thing that amazed me was the first week of school we had a great turnout of about 20 people for the program dirty minds and the next week we had about 15 people go to Hooters as a group, and I thought it was great that so many people wanted to go; and I think it was because the floor was already close. If you ever want to go to Taco Bell, come to second south, people go at least once a week if not twice. For example on Friday night a group of us went there at 1:30am; there was already another group there and another guy had stopped by. He said – I had a feeling that there would be people from our floor here – I just knew. Our floor is loud – but we are lucky to have Deidra who is so amazing as an RA. If you ask any of the on-duty RAs they would probably say that we are one of the loudest floors, but we have so much fun. There are always people watching movies together, and if you walk in the room to say hi they want you to sit down and watch. There was one night where there was a big Xbox game in the lounge and people kept coming and going and the total of people that played was probably 15-20. The other night about 12 people went to Krolls and we had so much fun. It has been a little over a month since school started and I continue to learn new things about the people on our floor each week. I also feel like I get to know someone a little bit better every week. I love getting to know everyone and feel so lucky to have been put with such an incredible group of people. Our floor truly is AMAZING!!! There are so many wonderful people with such a variety of interests, not to mention a number of unique individuals– if you ever want to get distracted from doing your homework, just come on over to chat, I cannot tell you how many times I have stayed up late because I got distracted and talked to someone for two hours. I love our floor which is why I nominated them for community of the month.

Reason: Kim is such a great advisor to RHA, whenever I talk to her about RHA she has nothing but good things to say. She is positive and incredible because the meetings are later at night when she would rather not be there, but she is so awesome. They currently do not have a treasurer so she is filling in and helping out with the budget and that's so awesome. Kim rocks and I think she deserves to be septembers Advisor of the month.

Reason: I have only attended two RHA meetings this year and I was impressed by this girl right away. The first meeting I was at she was voted in as the RHA VP, but during that whole meeting she acted as though she were a part of it and knew what was going on. She is focused and seems like she works really hard to get things done. At the second meeting the President Lindsay was not in attendance and Rebekah took over for the night. She did such a great job. She is a sweetheart, making sure that everyone's opinions got heard, and kept the meeting running very smoothly. This girl is a leader, this girl rocks, this girl is the VP of RHA and this girl should be the September Exec Member of the Month.

Reason: I really like Deidra, she is very much a part of the amazing floor community of 2nd South Snarr. She eats with us all the time, she always is around for us, is always talking to her residents, and puts up with a lot. Our floor is outgoing and a lot of fun to be around, which is cool for the RA, but also at the same time is difficult when it comes to enforcing the rules. I think the line Deidra says the most is "It's quiet hours, guys you have to be quiet please" Its hard and she is so great. Especially when her residents knock on her door at 3AM and wake her up because they don't know what to do. (which by the way, it was not nessecary to wake her up at that hour). Deidra is a great RA because she has the right combination of friend/floormate and RA. She is our friend and yet at the same time we still realize she is our RA and could write us up. I know Deidra was a little worried about having a co-ed floor and I think she has had to put up with a number of interesting situations so early in the year. There are a lot of outgoing people on our floor and this can be challenging. Deidra is amazing and I admire her so having done such a great job so far this year with our floor. Our floor is amazing; but Deidra is amazing on a whole other level. She is September's RA of the Month.

She has put on numerous programs not only for her residents but for the residents in her complex. She has recently started a new campus organization to help with the student alcohol abuse issue. She is always encouraging, supportive, fun, and loving. If not in name than in spirit she is the Resident Assistant of the month. Reason: Nicole Nagel is currently the NGH Hall Council Secretary and also heads up the Public Relations (PR) Committee. She does a great job with both. Nicole takes great minutes at the meetings and distributes them within the week. She has also done a great job creating and maintaining the hall council display case in Grantham. As a leader, Nicole has shown poise during difficult situations at meetings and has been a standout among her peers, whether it is through her hardwork with various posters for the PR committee, her recent efforts to get Nelson ready for the Halloween Trick or Treat Tower, or simply the positive attitude she brings to our group. Nicole is a great role model of a what a good student leader should be-committed, motivated, and excited about what she does for the students of NGH. It's so much fun to watch her work and I can't wait to see all the great things Nicole will accomplish in our complex this year.

Reason: I can't imagine someone being better at their job than Amanda Herges. As the developmental complex coordinator for NGH, she not only does her job extremely well, but gets along well with and is liked by the entire staff. Amanda is always in the office working hard on paperwork or schoolwork-no matter what it is, she is always willing to listen to whomever may walk in and start talking. Additionally, Amanda is always joking around with and having fun with the NGH staff and it's easy to see how much everyone looks up to her and trusts her to make good decisions. She gets along well not only with staff, but also residents, whether on her floor, at hall council, or across campus. Amanda is very committed to what she does-to making the residence halls a better place to live, making it a place that people want to live. But she also makes it better just by being herself and adding a little bit of excitement to all of our days. I am privileged to both work with and know Amanda, and am proud that someone so committed is involved in residential life. Amanda has only made the program better by her participation, and that's something that's really easy to see everyday.

Reason: I would like to nominate the Dahl-Ballard Movie Social as a social program of the month. The movie social was held in Dahl's main lounge on Thursday, November 17th. Dahl and Ballard's respective hall councils worked hard to make the night a success; They split the cost of food and worked together on setting up the equipment and furniture, advertising, and planning the program. The social was meant as an opportunity to get members of the two halls acquainted and to promote both hall councils. Over eighty residents showed up, and there was pizza, candy, pop, and chips available to movie-goers. The movie 'Elf' was chosen to get everyone in the holiday spirit and, thanks to both executive boards, everything ran smoothly. The night was a smashing success, and deserves to be November's Program of the Month.

Reason: Tyler is an outgoing individual who knows a number of people on the floor. He is always available to talk. I often see Tyler on the floor talking to people. He is very friendly and definetely a great part of 2nd south snarr. Today when Deidra came up with the great idea of ordering pizza for the floor because a number of people were around due to the weather, Tyler volunteered his car and drove to Little Caesar's...lets just say that it was not optimum driving conditions. First, Tyler and Pat had to push his car out of its parking spot and then driving on the icy/snowy roads was an adventure....Tyler was very brave and I think that Tyler deserves to be the Student of the Month for November. He is a good friend of mine and is there for a number of the floor members on a daily basis but was very generous tonight (11/28) by first driving Pat to Concordia to pick up some posters and secondly by braving the awful weather to get pizza for the floor. He rocks and deserves this award :)

Reason: 4th Snarr South is an amazing community and I am proud to be a part of it. The residents are very friendly and are always hanging out in the lounge and hallways. During Thanksgiving break, they created their own movie nights in the lounge, complete with a big screen TV, DVD player and snacks. After the blizzard, everyone helped each other out by shoveling out their cars and gettting each others car doors open. On the day that classes were cancelled, a bunch of the guys planned their own poker tournament in the lounge. The residents of this community are very friendly and welcoming as well. We have had a couple of new residents this semester and now that the semester is ending, it is as if the new residents have been here since the beginning. The rest of the floor welcomed them in. 4 SS is like a family. They always watch out for each other, take care of each other and get along like they've known each other their whole lives. This is why I believe they deserve to be the community of the month.

Reason: I am nominating all of the Housing and Residential Life Complex Coordinators because they are a wonderful group of women. As Complex Coordinators they all assist their Area Directors, Staffs, and residents as much as possible. They give everything that is asked of them and often times, unknown to everyone around them, they give far beyond their expectations and job requirements. Jill, Jodi, & Mel have meetings and go out of their way to make sure that residents' room assignments and blue cards are accurate to minimize conflicts for the residents. Liz & Jayme work hard to educate and assist residents in conduct and student issues to help facilitate the development of community. All these women work hard for their staffs and their residents and although they are appreciated they do not get recognized enough for all the work and dedication that they put in for the Housing and Residential Life Department here at MSUM. All I ask is that you as National Residence Hall Honorary consider awarding them with the "Spotlight of the Month" Award. Award or no award I would just like to say, great job ladies. You have done so well and the year is only half over. Your co-workers and residents look forward to another great semester with all of you!

Reason: I would like to nominate Cody Warner for Student of the Month. Cody has been an active student on campus throughout the entire semester. He is involved in CRU, attends every program he learns about in NGH, and actively seeks new ways to get out and be involved with other students on campus. Although Cody is at times a little shy, this does not prevent him from continuously traveling through the building and trying to make new friends. When I first met Cody at the beginning of the year, I never expected the hilarious, friendly, and entertaining person I know today. I am very lucky to have a student like Cody living on my floor -- his smiling face, daily warm welcomes, and constant attendance to floor activities make being an RA much more enjoyable. If Cody doesn't receive this recognition, it would be a complete and utter tragedy.

Reason: Pak Konzak is the President of the NGH Hall Council & I would like to nominate him for Executive Board Member of the Month. Pak brings a large amount of enthusiasm and charisma to everything he is involved in, and Hall Council is no exception. Whether it be dressing up as a Pirate, or talking about all the trials and tribulations of a Culinary Student, Pak finds a way to brighten the day of everyone he encounters. Pak tips his hat at everyone he knows as he walks through campus, and he brings that same sense of respectability and caring to his work on Hall Council. Pak takes his position very seriously, and it is rare that I find him talking or thinking about anything other than Hall Council. NGH is lucky to have Pak on its side.

Reason: I would like to nominate Amy Fitzlaff for Resident Assistant of the month. I believe that you would be hard pressed to find an RA who cares as much about the residents on her floor as Amy does. Amy is constantly plastering the doors on her floor with fancy new door decorations, or trying to come up with an exciting activity for her floor to participate in. When I most recently encountered Amy, she was preparing individualized Christmas gifts for each of her residents. As she was placing the gifts into the mailboxes, the smile on her face is what showed me that she genuinely cared. Giving her residents something to brighten their day probably meant more to Amy than receiving the gift will mean to the girls on her floor. Amy had been depressed most of last week because she learned that she would be losing 8 of her residents at the end of the semester -- the thought of people wanting to leave her floor for any reason at all (whether it be moving to Rhode Island, or renting an apartment), was not something she could understand. This is because to Amy, she was not losing 8 Residents, she was losing 8 friends. So, when it comes down to it, if you want to honor a Resident Assistant that cares immensely for every single people on their floor -- then you should honor Amy Fitzlaff.

Reason: Stephanie Simonson is a unique girl with a unique past who faces unique situations. She has overcome numerous obstacles just by coming to MSUM, and while here, faces many more. Instead of giving up and hanging her head, she pushes through and overcomes with success. Not only does she overcome, but she excels. Despite her already full schedule, she makes time to be a disability reader for another student, participates regularly in the NGH Hall Council, and contributes to her own floor in whatever way she can. Stephanie adds a character all her own to her floor and positively affects those around her. She instills hope and encouragement that no matter what the situation, with the support of those around you, anything may be overcome. Stephanie Simonson DESERVES this award.

Jescia uses her artistic talents to help decorate for everything and she always seems to be in good mood. Her floor programs and bulletin boards are unique and she puts a lot of work into both of them. Jescia is easy to get along with and excited about what she does. Reason: J.C. is a quiet person who makes a big difference. She doesn't deserve this award for any one specific thing, but for everything she puts into her job. J.C. is very approachable, concerned not only for her residents, but for those around her, and is an all-around friendly gal. Everything that J.C. does for her job shows she cares. If a fellow worker needs a shift change, J.C. is ready and willing to do it! The little things she does for her residents tells them that they are special. As one person put it, "J.C. can put two pieces of paper together for door decs, and they look great!" J.C. is laid back and willing to take time for anyone. People want to be around her because she is carefree, yet has her own distinct "J.C. attitude." Surely if you've met her, you know what I mean. The greatest compliment I can give her is this: if I was a resident, she would be the one I would want to be my R.A.

Reason: Shantell is one ridiculously busy girl. Her life revolves around three things: classes, work, and the gym. She manages her time carefully to do all she sets out to accomplish. She works out for several hours every day (she's even been mistaken for an employee at the Wellness Center!), works in the psychology department, is a good student, and makes time to do what she enjoys -- intermural basketball. Her influence does not end there though. During the down time of her schedule, Shantell has played an important part on 5th floor Nelson. Throughout the last few weeks while talking with my residents, I have heard Shantell's name mentioned several times. Shantell has befriended nearly everyone on my floor and has impacted each in her own special way. She is level-headed and down to earth; can have fun but knows when work needs to be done. She's studious but has her crazy moments; she's busy, but makes time to show she cares. For all these reasons and so much more, Shantell deserves to be student of the month.

Reason: Even though he's new, Cole deserves to be RA of the month, and this is why. I was working my desk shift tonight, and Cole came by. He's only been an RA for a week, maybe a few days more. He came to the desk, sat down, and pulled out the list of residents. He went through each one on his new floor and tried to match the names with faces. Of his 30-or-so residents, he knew all but 5 or 6. It was his goal to know the rest of his residents by the time the night was over. He told me that he knew "a little about each one" he had met. Cole has a genuine concern for his residents and an interest in their lives. He brought back the spirit of what being an RA means, something that seems to get lost as the year goes by. Cole brings enthusiasm and excitement to the staff. He has a constant smile on his face and an encouraging word for those he sees. Even though he has just started, I look forward to seeing what else he can do. Cole is a great addition to the NGH staff -- we are lucky to have him.

Reason: I wish to nominate Corey Schaffer for Resident Assistant of the month. I think many of the reasons he deserves this recognition are quite obvious. As a 2nd year RA, Corey has brought his experience, wisdom, and continuously calm attitude to our staff. When Corey comes to mind, it’s hard to think of anything other than his many accomplishments last year on staff, but it would be an unforgivable mistake to think that Corey has been anything other than a crucial player on the NGH team this year as well. Corey recently was telling me about how someone lit a roll of toilet paper on fire in his bathroom, smeared human feces all over the wall, and vomited in the urinal. For most RAs, this would be the last straw, they would lose their cool and start questioning if they should even be an RA. But for Corey, this rare occurrence of insanity didn’t faze him one bit. Corey has seen his share of unusual conduct situations, and it has molded him into a calm, unshakeable rock of a Resident Assistant. But conduct is just a minor part of what makes Corey Schaffer an amazing Resident Assistant --- Before the year had even gotten into full swing, Corey began planning his “Holmquist Weight Room Renovation Project”. Corey rallied the other Holmquist RAs and the Residents of the building and brought the entire project together. The weight room was repainted, cleaned, all of the garbage and broken equipment was disposed of, and Corey requested money from Hall Council to get new equipment for the room. As I type this, I sit just feet away from Corey’s latest improvement to Holmquist Hall; the brand new Pool Table and Air Hockey table recently added to the Holmquist Main Lounge. It often seems that if Corey is not finding some new and inventive way to make on-campus life better for our Residents, he his putting in that extra effort to help a fellow staff member. Whether it is answering questions that first year staff members may have, or going out of his way to brighten the day of someone who is obviously having a bad day – Corey is always there. I was glad to hear that Corey will still be with Housing next year, because I’m not sure it would be the same around here without Corey still being a presence. His knowledge, experience, desire to leave things better than how he found them, and his positive and caring attitude will make on-campus life at MSUM a much more enjoyable experience than it could have ever been without him. If push ever comes to shove, and I’m having a seriously difficult time in my personal life, Resident Assistant life, or a conduct situation – Corey Schaffer is the RA I would like by my side. Please give him this small recognition… he deserves it.

Reason: Ashley Strausser is a Machine! Everyday this woman exerts so much energy and passion for the Residents of NGH as well as the NGH staff. She is always the first one there to jump in and help out in any situation. In this month especially, I have seen Ashley show so much compassion for members of her staff. An RA must not only be there "clerically" for her staff, but an RA must be there emotionally as well. The other day, I saw that she was very concerned about a staff member who was going through a difficult time. Ashley shows concern through her big heart and beautiful smile. After listening to her "co-worker", you could just see the appreciation in the their eyes. Ashley has also helped me a great deal with many stressers I have had in my life as well and I will forever be greatful for her gentle heart and open ears. Ashley Strausser is the most deserving person for being the OTM for the month of February because February is the month of love, and love is definately what Ashley has for her job, residents, and staff members alike.

Reason: The guys of 3rd Grantham are absolutely amazing. I haven't seen a group of guys on campus in since my freshman and sophomore year that are as tight with each other as this group of young men. They spend nearly all of their waking hours together hanging out in the room, playing x-box, hockey and watching movies together. They provide a very comfortable atmosphere for 3rd GN which makes other residents of Nelson and surrounding complexes feel right at home. Residents from other complexes as well as other RA's have come up to me and said that it is crazy how close these fine young gentlemen are with each other. The friendships they made this year are carrying over to next year as many of them will be living together next year on the same floor. These guys are great and make my life as an RA very easy. They have had a tremendous impact on my year this year and can not thank them enough. Also, this group of guys reminds me of my friends in the dorms and how close we were. It is something that they will never forget. Go Grantham! Woo!

Serena makes a huge effort every week to be a part of Hall Council and to encourage residents to also be a part of the organization. She put together the Speed Dating event for Snarr and it was a huge success. She always does her best at everything she does. She is always looking for solutions to problems rather than focusing on the problem itself. Kristi recently made the day of a resident of hers that was stood up on a date. She decided to make the best of the situation and instead brought a date to her resident. They ordered in food and watched a movie in the dorms.
Kristi is always willing to help out whenever she is needed and participates in hall life fully by coming to Hall Council meetings and events as well as getting to know as many residents as she can on the floors. Kristi would make a great RA of the month!

Reason: The reason I am nominating this Executive Board Member is that Scott Wesbur has dedicated an incredible amount of time this past month being Ballard Hall Council's Treasurer and clerk. It is unbelievable to think of how Scott has made his priorities and responsibilites a goal to accomplish. As president of BHC, I have seen how a hard-working, dedicated executive board member can take time out of his busy schedule to help pu on Ballard's biggest turn out activity of the year, The Ballard Superbowl Jamboree. He took on almost all responsibilities and accomplished a lot. Thanks Scott, you don't know how much your hard work pays off and shows.

Reason: The Ballard Hall Council worked very hard on their SuperBowl Party and had a huge turnout. Nearly 50 Ballard residents were in attendance, which is actually a large percentage of the Hall. The Hall Council provided Buffalo Wild Wings, a rootbeer keg, pizza, and chips, all of which went over very well. Many of the residents remained for the entire game, and had good time cheering, booing, and arguing over each other's teams.

Reason: February has really been a highlight month for Amanda. Working as a complex coordinator, she has done a great job. However, she has also surpassed bounds in this area. Amanda has been quick to volunteer for desk shifts that no one could fill and even invented a game where the winner would receive one free duty shift that she would take. These are things that are normally expected of those in her position, but Amanda is always around and willing to help, no matter what is going on. As a work advisor to the RAs in NGH, she does an amazing job reminding them that she is always there for them. It's really inspiring to work with her. I know I'm not the only one who appreciates all that Amanda does.

Mark always volunteers to buy needed items for programs and does a great job keeping hall council meetings on track. He service to the other executive board members is also easy to see, when he helps hang up posters or volunteers to complete tasks that no else wants to. She will come and hang out at that the desk just because she knows it helps to pass the time. Her residents adore her. She makes a great RA, friend and colleague. Reason: Corey Schaffer is a second year Resident Assistant. As a first year RA, I have only heard about the situations Corey has previously dealt with, ranging from usual dorm violations to mass fights, and everything in-between. Last year, Corey was voted as R.A. of the Year, and his job performance has certainly been carried forward. This year, once again, Corey has had his share of "interesting" situations, but keeps his cool and continues to do an amazing job. As a newcomer to the staff, Corey has had a definite impact on the way I do my job. Like any 1st time R.A., I had my concerns and at times doubted my abilities. Many times I turned to Corey – others too, but especially Corey – for advice. The confidence and support he gives to his fellow R.A.s are critical components to our staff. Not only does Corey do an amazing job by supporting his staff, this year Corey has also taken several large projects upon himself in an effort to improve residential life. This includes a complete renovation of the Holmquist Weight Room and the purchasing of both an air hockey and pool table for Holmquist. Corey is like the Superman of R.A.s. Though Corey has done an astounding job in the past, his current efforts should not be overlooked. New R.A.s come in with excitement and enthusiasm, but it’s the continued effort that makes R.A.s – and staffs – succeed. Corey certainly deserves the small honor of being R.A. of the month. Personally, I would just like to say, “Thank you Corey.”

Reason: Community Service This is the best community service project that has come out of MSUM that I've ever seen. Deidra and Franklin put on an RA auction, but it was not just a regular aution. It did not raise money for a athletic group, no it raised money for Muscular Schlerosis. What a good way to remember someone close to the reslife community by helping out those less fortunate than ourselves. There were 26 smiling volunteers on hand to let themselves be auctioned off, also there was a donation bucket to help bring in more for the event. In total the RA's brought in $1425. Not only did the RA's have a good time, but with the actual auctioneer that was brought in the bidders had a great time as well. There was fun to be had by both bidder and auctionee. If this does not win Program of the month I do not know what constitutes as a good program of the month for community service. I just would like to thank Deidra and Franklin for their hardwork and dedication that brought this event together.

Reason: Jayme has been a great influence on the Dahl Ballard staff. She always has a smile on her face, even when she just wakes up. She knows when to get to business in staff meetings and when to have fun at other times. She has really proven to be a great leader in her hall council, and it is a credit to her that even when she cannot make it to a meeting, that the hall council can run by itself. If it could not I'm sure that she wouldn't miss a minute of it. She has really connected with her Hall council and has them doing programs with the Dahl ladies every once in a while. It would be a shame if Jayme didn't get recognized for her achievements just once this year. Talent like hers comes natural. Hopefully, next year, I can have the same attitude that she had this year, when I become a CC. These are just a few of the reasons I believe that Jayme Job deserves to be the Advisor of the month for April.

Officially she is not part of the executive board, but she does a lot of work that could be considered part of hall council. She comes to every meeting with a smile and she just enjoys life to the fullest. She is going into the guards next year, but plans on returning to MSUM the next year, and hopefully become an RA. Her dedication is amazing. These are just some of the reason that I believe Kim to be the student of the month for DABA in April.

Reason: Where do I begin? Sara Grace Olson is a fantastic RA for numerous reasons. Coming from one of her co-workers, I have to say that she is just great at her job. Her girls can tell that she is willing and wanting to put work into this RA lifestyle. She is always motivating to get her residents to football games and out of their rooms to hang out with eachother. Also, for the whole RA team, she is great at speaking up at our weekly meetings, as we are trying to brainstorm as a group for a diversity program. Great ideas and smart planning skills. Also, on a personal note, she is a fantastic friend who always has a listening ear available with great advise to share and not only do I appreciate that, but I am positive her residents do too!! She is great to have a round as a co-worker because of her willness to help as situations arise as she always has helpful questions, comments, ideas, and thoughts. I think Mike is adjusting well to the college life as he went to a number of organization meetings to figure out which ones he wanted to join. He also works at the library on campus as well as at the rising bread company in the mall. He hangs out in the lounge talking to the other floor members and is just nice to everyone. A few weeks ago a number of people from the floor went to a party and Mike didn't go with them but gave some of them his number to call if they needed a ride. What a nice guy. I know that she is also busy with work study and the academic conference and school and her boyfriend Nathan and all, but you don't hear her complain, she is amazing with time management I guess. Her floor of Japan looks really cool and she put a lot of hard work into. Reason: In the couple of months I have known her, Kimberly Ness has proven herself as one of the most talented resident assistants I have worked with. All through training she was quiet, attentive and unassuming so little did I know what an amazing staff member I had on my hands. From her first day in her floor community, Kim excelled. As an RA with only ten residents, Kim has had a big challenge in trying to make such an empty floor feel like home to her residents. Her commitment to developing a comfortable environment for her residents is apparent the second you step on to the floor as it’s bright and colorful and filled with decorations about her floor’s country Ireland. I’ve never seen anything like it! You would never know stepping onto her floor that there are so few residents. Kim’s dedication goes beyond the physical environment. She has developed a close bond with her residents and excelled in competing in the Hall Olympics program and in floor programming. Even though she only has ten residents, her floor leads the pack competing against floors that have five times the number of residents she does. She has accomplished this by leading by example and encouraging residents on her floor to take leadership in the program. Kim is also an excellent staff member. She is there for her fellow resident assistants. She does extra work at the desk just to help others out. She rarely turns down an RA when asked to help with duty rounds. Kim is a great role model for other staff members and performs consistently going above and beyond requirements. I’m so glad to have had the opportunity to work with Kim. She’s dedicated, talented, and deserving of being rewarded with the RA of the Month award! Please consider her!

Reason: Corey Schaffer took on the great challenge this year of becoming the Emphasis Program Coordinator for the Housing Department. It’s a new role with little structure or guidelines yet Corey has taken on the challenge full force and is blazing new trails for our department. One of his greatest challenges has been resurrecting the Hall Olympics program after several years of it lying stagnant. Corey worked all summer seeking community sponsors who would be willing to provide prizes and programming opportunities for residents. Corey started the year strong by getting out a ton of information to our resident assistants and community members. He has developed new ideas to reach all of our residents and their interests from promoting campus events, developing programs of his own, and coming up with passive ways to earn points. The program has been a way for residents to get involved and take leadership for their floors. It has also helped RA’s to have more programming opportunities and develop a floor identity through their assigned country. The program has resulted in a lot of work for Corey counting points, finding events, and distributing information to floors. But the Hall Olympics program isn’t all he’s done. Corey has been a source of information and a support for our RA’s in the area of programming. He helped develop a training session during RA training; he’s visiting RA’s during their open door hours to talk about their programming ideas; and he’s co-chairing our department’s programming committee. Corey is working develop stronger connections with faculty and spending countless hours entering resident profile data all so that we can have a strong connection to academics in our halls. I had no idea what would become of the Emphasis Program Coordinator position when I first started but Corey has set the bar high for future EPC’s. I am so proud of him and all he’s accomplished. Being a behind-the-scenes support for our department has meant that he sometimes doesn’t get the recognition he deserves. Please consider him for Spotlight of the Month!

Reason: Nina Johnson deserves to be Spotlight of the Month because she is amazing. I feel so lucky to have Nina as an Area Director and I could not have asked for a better person to work with. Nina is very dedicated to all of her staff members. She is always there for us, and supports us in any way possible. Nina is a wonderful role model to us all and I look up to her. She has also worked hard to build a strong bond with all of the Resident Assistants and Complex Coordinators of NGH. Nina also works extra hard to get to know the residents of NGH. She will keep the door open to her office so that you can stop by and see her, and she came to one of my floor programs to get to know the residents on my floor better. She is more then just an area director to us. Nina makes it feel like the staff is more of a family, then we are co-workers. I feel as though I can come and talk to Nina about anything. She guides us in what to do if we ever have a problem and she gives us ideas about floor program, bulletin boards, door decs, and many other things. When we have our one on ones with Nina every other week, She lets us talk and tell her about anything that we want to. Even if it has nothing to do with our job, she will still be there and listen to what we have to say. In our staff meetings, Nina is always very organized and has inportant information to tell us. She will also often times ask for our opinion on ways to make things better and encourages us to express our thoughts about things. Nina is very accepting of other peoples ideas and never puts anyone down. By setting a wonderful example, Nina encourages us to be the best person that we can be each and every day.

Reason: I wanted to nominate 1st South Dahl as the community of the month because they have gone above and beyond what was expected of them for the Halloween box maze. They got some of their floor to help out with the constructing the box maze and it was finished withing a couple of hours. It was a great help to the Dahl executive board and their advisor. It was a pretty amazing box maze too if I might add. They just blew my mind and they helped run it the next day. I was so excited to see this community come together just to put on a box maze for the kids. They did a great job.

Reason: Community Service RHA and the hall councils put together an amazing event on Halloween for the kids in the community. I heard so many good things about it. Most of the Hall Councils also had fun putting it on. It was just a big success. For those who don't know what it is. Nelson had a trick or treat tower, Dahl had a box maze, Snarr had a carnival, and Ballard had a haunted house and chem club. It is a great way for kids in the community to come and trick or treat. Also, the community gets involved and there are hotdogs and police that come. It is just an amazing event.

Reason: Kelly is not technically a hall council executive board member, but she acts like one. Her roommate is the dahl vp so Kelly is always helping out. She helped get boxes for the box maze and dressed up like cinderella on halloween. She also stayed and helped RHA clean up the Dahl main lounge. She is just a joy when she comes to hall council. She has constantly shown up to RHA and is our pseudo rep for Dahl because our elected ones don't show up. She is pretty much amazing.

Reason: Diversity The Dahl/Ballard RA's put together a diversity program that was amazing, it was a culture carnival. There was at least 50 people that came and played games from different cultures. There was also a quiz and a memory game. While they were doing fun activities they were also learning about different cultures. The RA's also had a blast putting on the program. I know everyone had a lot of fun putting it together.

Reason: The NGH RA's put on a wonderful Diversity program. The program was called "Crossing the Line". About 70 residents showed up to this event. There was a big square in the middle of the room and they would be asked various questions about their personal beliefs. If they felt that the question pertained to them then they would cross over the line. The questions started out easy like "Corss over the line if you are female" but, they eventually got more difficult. During the game no one was able to talk except for the person reading the questions. They were all also reminded that if at any point they didn't feel comfortable crossing over the line for a question, they didn't have to. At the end of the event, we broke off into small groups and had some discussion questions about how things made them feel. There was also free pizza and pop, and who doesn't love free pizza and pop? seriously! This diversity event was so much fun and I know the RA's of NGH and the residents that came had a lot of fun! The RA's, CC's and AD did and amazing job of put this program together! It was a huge success!

Reason: Social/Educational Ben thought up a program called "No Shave November" or "Novembeard". He put together a really sweet bullitin board with facts about the National Beard Registry, and The US Beard and Mustache team; along with a lot of pictures of famous beards throughout history (Santa, Jesus, ZZ top, Etc.) It fits both educational and social because of the bullitin board, and because everyone can get together and talk about each others beards.

Reason: It all began on September 20th 2006, when Jenn told us at Staff that the 1st South RA position had finally been filled. She said that he would be moving in over the weekend and I was curious to meet him. When I met him on Friday afternoon I was very excited to have just met the newest member of the Snarr Staff. Since becoming a part of the Snarr Staff, he has brought a very high standard with him and works hard to get things done and improved around the complex. He cleans the desk and fixes things and just when you think there can’t possibly be something else that needs improvement, he finds it. He is a great individual and lots of fun to do rounds with; he jokes around and says the craziest stuff and is probably one of my favorite people to do rounds with. He likes his job and takes it seriously. One weekend when I was on duty with him we had so much fun together. He was working the desk on Sunday because he was working the long shift, but he came and hung out with me at the desk on Saturday and was there for two hours. We hung out and cleaned the desk and fixed the beloved ‘Romeo’ vacuum of Snarr that I had broken the day before. Because he joined the staff into the year, I don’t think we as a staff really go to know him, or at least I didn’t until we went on staff retreat in November. I learned new things about him and think that he fits in well with the Snarr staff. He is older than so many of the staff and residents and has a lot of cool stories and things to share; I learn something new every time I talk to him. I think the hardest part of the RA job for him is being so much older, I think it would be difficult to deal with such an age gap, but he does such a great job with it, that sometimes I forget how old he really is and how much he has been through already. This guy has worked really hard since becoming a part of staff just 2 months ago. He worked with Ryan Meyer to get the weight room and recreation room fixed and put a lot of hours into that, and it looks so fantastic now!!! He’s hardworking, fun, caring, funny and has been the perfect addition to the Snarr staff so late in the year and definitely deserves to be recognized as NRHH’s RA of the Month. Ryan Jacobs rocks and I think he should win this award hands down!!!

Reason: She invites me to eat Kise with her all the time and is one of my Kise buddies. She is there to listen when I am stressed and need someone to talk to, she is there to tell my floor to be quiet when they are being loud and I am not there, and she works very hard on her projects for her major which is very time consuming. I love talking to this girl and even though I don’t want to admit to having favorites among my residents, I would have to say that she is one of my favorites. A few weeks ago I needed her artistic expertise making a tree so that I could hang leaves on it that had the names of my residents on them. When I asked her if she could help me, she said yes without any hesitation. I thought it wouldn’t take very long to draw a tree, but I was wrong and then after she had drawn the tree she helped me tape it to the wall and put all the leaves on it. I was so grateful for her help; I think with the two of us working on the project, it took a little over an hour. I really appreciate her helping me then, giving of her time so generously and being such a great friend. I am so lucky to have her on my floor and definitely think she deserves to be Student of the Month for NRHH. I know Jessica Alexander is such a great person and very deserving of this award.

She is always giving everyone a warm smile, and even sits down with us and cracks a few jokes. She does a great job at keeping the halls as nice as they possibly can be and even write us fun notes on the mirrors in the morning. The guys on this floor even say that Ter puts up with the messes that they make in their bathrooms. She is by far the hardest working and always friendly and extending a warm smile in the morning.

Reason: J.C Malmgren deserves to be spotlight of the month because she is amazing! J.C is a very hard working, dedicated, and caring person. When ever I see J.C, she is always working very hard. As the developmental CC of NGH, J.C is very nice to all of the students that she meets with. She also works extra hard and it seems that each student is getting a fair sanction. J.C also always makes sure that the RA's of NGH have enough study bucks and IRN's. She fills up the duty book with any forms that we may need when they are getting low. J.C is very dedicated to all of the staff members of NGH. She is always there for the Resident Assistants when we need her. If we ever have a problem, J.C will drop what shes doing to come and help us in any way possible. She always does everything and I have never once heard her complain about anything. J.C has a very positive attitude about everything and that is one of the qualities about her that I really admire! J.C is probably the most caring person I have ever met. If I ever see her. she always has a smile on her face and is always in a good mood. J.C will ask you about how your day is going and if your ever having a bad day, she knows the things to say to cheer you up and make your day better. I feel like often times all of the hard work that J.C puts in goes unnoticed and I feel that if J.C won spotlight of the month it would be a great way of showing her how truly amazing she is and a good way to thank her for all of her hard work and dedication. Please consider her!!!

Reason: One thing that really makes my day is when I see Teri our GMW for South Snarr. She is a lot of fun to talk to. I always want to know how my floor is looking and she gives me feedback and lets me know what is going on. She writes me notes when there is vomit in the boys’ bathroom so I can talk to the boys about it. She is very efficient and everything is always nice and clean. She goes above and beyond in her job. She got a new sign made for the girls bathroom because it didn’t have one and also got labels for the garbage rooms and a number of things that I didn’t expect her to do. For Halloween, she made ghosts out of garbage bags and out them on the bathroom doors and she had written happy Halloween on them. She wrote on toilet papers rolls “have a ghostly day or happy Halloween, or drew a ghost” and set these on the backs of the toilets. I love these and thought they made a huge difference and the fact that she used cheap things was really cool too!!!! She always has a smile on her face. She cleans my bathroom at 10am when I am leaving for class and there have been a few times when I have been late for class because I start talking to her and lose track. A lot of my residents know her and like her, as well a good number of the South Residents. She says hi to everyone and I am so surprised at how many names she knows. One of my residents once said in regard to the trashed bathroom after the weekend, “I wanted to clean it up for Teri because she is so nice and I really like her” Another resident once said, “I was doing my laundry one day and she helped with it by telling me not to wash certain things with others.” We as 4th floor south made her a card because we appreciate her so much and a resident was in the elevator with Teri, and Teri said, “You live on 4th floor right, thanks so much for the card.” When this resident talked to me, she was so surprised that Teri remembered that she lived on 4th floor. She went on to say lots of wonderful things about Teri including the fact that she is very personable and works really hard and just does a great job. South Snarr is not the easiest building to clean. Sometimes things can get a little messy and I rarely hear Teri complain. I never realized before becoming an RA and working with a GMW before, how much of a difference it makes when you have someone so amazing like Teri to work with and sometimes I almost take her for granted. I love Teri and want her to win spotlight of the month and hope you agree too!!!

Reason: Kacie Larson is a great individual that I am so proud to have as a member of 4th South Snarr. She is active both on the floor and also in Snarr. She is a 4th floor representative at Snarr Hall Council and is there each and every week. I know that I can count on her to represent our floor and be there to know what is going on. She is often seen hanging out in the lounge talking to other members of the floor. One area that she has really impressed me with is hall Olympics. She was really excited about hall Olympics from day one when she heard about it and even though she isn’t a freshman and didn’t attend all the orientation events, she wanted to find out what she could fill out passports for and was always turning in passports to me. One Saturday in December I was looking at the point totals for our floor and discovered that we had moved up from about 12th place to 2nd place because a number of my floor had attended the poker night over in Dahl and earned lots of points. Kacie and our other floor representative Heath are responsible for making that happen. In December for the Snarr Hall Council gingerbread house contest she took it upon herself to be in charge and organize the event for our floor. She got a number of people to help out in the building of the house and it was so cool to see them all contributing and adding parts and I was really happy when our floor won. She is a lot of fun to talk to and I really appreciate her enthusiasm for our floor. She deserves to be student of the month for December because she is such an important part of our floor and I would love it for her to receive this recognition for all of her hard work!!! She rocks!

It was not uncommon for me to walk down a side of the floor and have almost all of the doors open. In the past three months I have seen this floor grow together so much. In the beginning of the semester there were groups amongst themselves but then in October and November I saw the groups merge together more and people started hanging out with other people. I was so excited to see this change among my floor. I love that my floor is really social, granted there are times when it gets a little loud but I know I can walk onto the floor and be surprised. I never know what is going to be happening and they never fail to surprise me. It is not unusual for me to come upon 15-20 people hanging out together in the lounge playing a game, putting a puzzle together or just hanging out doing some homework. My floor knows each other and they eat together in groups in Kise all the time. It is so cool to see them getting along so well. I was really busy with classes in the beginning of the semester but when I had more free time in the later part I was able to eat with some of them and talk to them on a one on one basis and I am so glad that I was given the challenge of having this floor as an RA. One of my favorite things to see is how they work together and support each other as a group. If two or three people have a class together they are often in the lounge together working on homework and helping one another study. Or even if people don’t have that class they try to help each other out with what they are working on by reading papers or helping with math homework. In the beginning of the year, puzzles were a huge thing on the floor and for a while they did a different puzzle every week. One night about seven people were working on a puzzle and got kind of loud and I walked in there to tell them to quiet down as it was 3am and I found out later that they ended up staying up until 7am to finish that thing. Like I said earlier it is not uncommon for me to walk onto the floor and be surprised. One night I came home to find the lounge floor covered in confetti. A bunch of people had spent the night decorating the lounge and making snowflakes and the pieces were ALL over the lounge. Then there’s the night where there was a game of spoons, a wrestling match and about 20 people sitting in the lounge. One night they had a floor dinner together where one of the guys made pheasant and potatoes and they were all sitting in the lounge eating together when I came back from my desk shift. My floor got off to a really good start in hall Olympics as the country of India. Within the first few weeks, we were the top floor in Snarr and in the top five across campus. This dwindled throughout the semester but in December three members of the floor attended the poker night over in Dahl and received a number of points for the floor. After this there was only about a week and a half left and we were only about 300 points from first place at this point. The floor got fired up and filled out a bunch of passports in these few days and encouraged one another to fill them out. At the end of hall Olympics we lost by about 185 points. But I was so proud that we had turned in about 3000 points in that short time period. In December, Snarr Hall Council sponsored the gingerbread house building contest. I came back to the floor from the staff meeting to find a mansion of a house, which about 6 people were working on. They had already spent a good portion of time on the house and spent another two hours on it. People contributed candy and other assorted things from their rooms to make it so successful. The house had a little balcony, flowers outside, and a snowman. I was so proud of it and the best part about it was they organized it themselves and I had no part in it. We ended up winning the contest and I was excited for them because they were really bummed about losing hall Olympics especially after they worked so hard at turning in points at the end. This floor is one of a kind and is truly unique to any other floor on campus. I think my floor wins the award hands down for being the most social and I’ll be honest it’s a fun place to hang out, just ask the other people who are a part of our floor but don’t actually live there. We have a number of groupies who I forget don’t actually reside on my floor sometimes. They get along well with my floor and I have gotten to know them and am glad they like coming to visit and enjoy spending time with the people who live there. Hands down I love the floor. There are so many different personalities, tastes, talents, and interests that come together to make this floor so unique and special. I know they deserve to be floor of the month because they have worked so hard this month with hall Olympics and the gingerbread house and trying to be quiet during finals quiet hours (which was REALLY hard). It’s like a family away from home. A place where one can find support and friends. 4th South Snarr is the place to be. If you haven’t come for a visit yet, you definitely should!!!!

Reason: Snarr Search was held on December 7th and it was a great Diversity Program. There were a variety of foods for students to try as well as a number of different beverages. Students were able to enjoy the newly fixed rec room and play the games. it was truly a successful and fun program because I think students were able to try foods they wouldn't normally try and broadened their horizons as well as interacted with each other and learned more about what snarr has to offer in the way of services in the building. I think the staff did a great job of putting this event together at the last minute and it was a lot of fun!

Reason: Jenny is such an inspiration to me. She is a great member of staff. She works hard and is fun to hang out with at the desk. She is punctual for staff meetings and has great things to contribute. Whenever I do rounds, I find her not in her room, but in out of her resident's rooms hanging out. She is there for her residents and spends a lot of time with them. She gets her stuff done and I know I can count on her. Not only is she an RA but she also is a biology major and is busy with her homework and labs for that as well as doing cancer research. She is a member of Delta Zeta as well. She is an active person and I know when she is stressed but still she doesn't complain. She works hard, always has a smile on her face and I am so glad that I have met her through being on staff. What a great girl who deserves to be RA of the month!

Reason: Sarah Osborne deserves to be the Resident Assistant of the month because she is awesome. I have learned so much from Sarah just from the one semester that I have known her. Sarah has a huge heart and really cares about all the other staff memebers and her residents. She will go out of her way to help anyone that is in need, no matter what time it is. Sarah also has much dedication to her job. She has been there for her residents and other staff members of NGH. With the work that Sarah does, it really shows how truly dedicated she is to her RA job. She is a role model for the residents and other staff memebers. When there was no RA on 3rd W Holmquist, Sarah would go to 3rd W and help them with anything. She informed all of the residents of 3rd W about any floor meetings and invited them to come. Sarah always made sure that they had all of the information that they needed and at the semester break, she went around and put key blocks in 3rd W, along with her own floor. Sarah is always willing to help others out when they ask for help on duty rounds or at the desk. When I go on duty rounds with her, she always makes me laugh. With her positive attitdue and fun personality, she can make you go from having the worst day to having the best day. Sarah also works very hard at the desk. She makes sure that she gets everything done and that everything is in order. Through all of the hard work that Sarah has done, I have never once heard her complain about anything. At our staff meetings, Sarah always has very good feed back and ideas to help other staff members out. I am so glad that I have had the oppertunity to work with Sarah this year and next year. I am also very thankful for the friendship that Sarah and I have. She is an amazing person thats works very hard and is dedicated. I hope that you will give Sarah much consideration for Resident Assistant of the month!

Reason: I would like to nominate Dragonstock for Social program of the month. EPC Corey Schaffer put together an entire day's worth of events for the residents that stay on campus on the weekends but choose not to drink. Some of my residents and I went to the dance before dinner and had a really good time and some of my residents also played Dragonstock poker later in the evening and won all kinds of prizes. Dragonstock is a really fun day that will hopefully be continued again in the future.

Reason: EPC Corey does a crazy amount of stuff. He runs the Hall Olympics, brings huge programs to our residents like Dragonstock but also keeps the Dragon Channel awesome. Before I was an RA I always thought programming and the Dragon Channel were lame... but ever since Corey became the EPC and Dragon Channel Station Manager - on-campus life has become super fun and involved and the Dragon Channel flippin rocks. If Corey didn't exist... two-thirds of the events in our buildings probably wouldn't exist.

Reason: RA "CASH" totally deserves this award not only for being one of the coolest RA's that I know, but for her wonderful apprication, dedication, and support that she offers all 51 of us girls here on 2nd south dahl. Cashman has put together many floor meetings that encourage us to get to know each other, have fun, and experience the great quailites of dorm life. Cashman puts is so many extra hours decorating or hall, doors, ans just listening to our problem that she almost seems to forget that she has her own life. She is also always spending the extra cash for us on little reminders like quiet hours, that sleep in important in time of finals, and just to let us know that she cares. It is always nice to see little surprises in our mail boxes. Cashman deserves this award more than any other RA that I have been introduced too, because she takes her responsiblites seriously, and truely cares about our feelings. Cash makes sure that we all feel welcome and comfortable. She does so much for us that I feel that this is the least that 2nd south dahl can do for her, because we truely do love her.

Reason: Amanda is constantly putting together different hall events to bring our girls closer together. We had an incident of someone puking in the bathroom and we all had to clean it up last week. To thank everyone for being good sports about it, she decided that we should have a 'puke party.' She also is very creative. She leaves cute things in our mailboxes all of the time. Like she left little plastic bugs in our mailboxes that said "don't bug your neighbors." And she always has the hall decorated cute. She has lights hanging from the ceiling and puts different colored streamers around them and hangs hearts or presidents from it (depending on the holiday.) Amanda has such a special relationship with each girl in the hall. She is so easy to talk to and shows us respect. She is the best RA I could have asked for. Yay Amanda!

Reason: Derrick Paulson and Josey Fog organized a very deserving program at the beginning of February, The Scavenger Hunt. This program was designed to do a number of things to benefit the residents of NGH. Teams were put together in order for residents to get to know others in the complex. The night before the actual Scavenger Hunt took place, Derrick and Josey put on a social program for the participants to eat pizza and play games so they could get to know each other. The Scavenger Hunt itself promoted sociability, teamwork, recreation, and creativity (teams were offered bonus points for creative pictures). It encouraged residents to explore and get to know the campus with items on the list such as “President Barden’s signature” and “The Grier Hall Plaque”. Eight teams of residents worked hard throughout the day to collect items and take pictures of everything from the iguana in King Hall, to a Campus Security Officer, to a room created outside in the frigid weather. About a week later, Josey and Derrick put together a slide show and award gathering where each participant was to receive a goody bag and teams were given prizes for their creativity. These two RAs did an absolutely amazing job with this program and really put a lot of effort in to it. They deserve to be recognized for their time and all of the hard work they put in to this great program for their residents.

Reason: Jenn has always shown her heart and soul for the Area Director job and some of that has been taken for granted by many, but Jenn really has impacted all aspects of housing and residential life. To begin with Jenn helped coordinate and put together room reregistration which takes a two weeks to a month out of her time. She put together resident assistants to help Pat Walker and information packets so residents knew when and where to sign up and how much money they needed to bring. Next, she is picking new staff members for next year. This is not an easy job since there are so many qualified candidates. She has had to listen to over 40 students in one week talk about why they want to become RA's. She impacting how these new residents become our future leaders and will take further positions within the university. Personally, she has been very uplifting for me. She lets me know when I'm doing a great job even though I'm having a rough day. Multiple times in our meetings she lets me know that I'm appreciated. She does this for all her RA's. It is because of her that our hall function properly. Without her guidance and instructions RA's would be lost without her. I know it seems like Jenn is underappreciated, but I just wanted to let her know that her hardwork does not go unnoticed to her staff, residence, and those in her communities. She belongs to many groups and committees on campus and her days are very hectic. I think that because Jenn is so committed to our university that she deserves to be recognized for Advisor of the month for NRHH.

Reason: Caitlin has just been a shining star of the Dahl executive board. She is willing to help out with any endavour and just takes her position really seriously. She is always smiling when I see her and she just brightens my day. She is the Dahl Historian and she has been very on the ball since she started. Every week she puts up flyers around the hall to let all the residents know when it is and what we are doing that week. She is also very respectful and takes down her posters every week. Dahl hall council had a logo and she put 2 hours into making the logo colorful because she does not have Photoshop, which would have made the task easier, but instead she used paint to put it together. The logo looks great by the way. She is just there and enthusiastic about her position and I know that she'll make a great RA next year.

Reason: Lawrence Stahl deserves to be RA of the month for March. Lawrence is one of the most self sacrificing individuals I have ever known. He is willing to help out anyone who is anyone. His committment to his job and his school has lead him to become one of the RA's who has the most culturally diverse programs. They range from Korean parties, to Chinese New year, and he also tried to put together a Black History Month program. He is so involved with cultural diversity that he has incorporated that into his job as well. Lawrence is always willing to go on rounds and take desk and duty shifts for his fellow staff members. There really isn't a time when he hasn't taken something for his staff even if he is super busy with school, homework, RA stuff, and personal life. He takes the time to help out. He is always shining when he comes to staff meetings and there has not been a time this year that he has not made the whole staff smile with his witty remarks and sarcastic nature. It really livens up our staff. He is so caring and neat to be around. These are just some of the many things that make Lawrence so deserving for this honor and I hope you consider him for RA of the month.

Reason: Caitlin is Dahl Hall Council's historian. Although she was elected into position mid-semester, she has contributed to Dahl Hall Council greatly. She is always at meetings and always willing to help with programs put on by hall council, for example the Dahl Dollars Drawing. She took charge when the hall council mentioned having Dahl tshirts. She designed the tshirt, created order forms, collected money, and organized everything. Caitlin is an awesome part of Dahl Hall Council's exec board and I ask that you consider her for this month's exec board member of the month.

Reason: Sara is an amazing RA. Her floor community is so close-knit and fun. She is always doing things for her residents, friends, and staff. I dont know how many times she volunteered for break duty this year when no one else on staff wanted to stick around over the holiday. She puts on great floor programs and is an RA who is always there for her residents. Overall, Sara does a lot of little things to show others she cares and I feel that its time we let her know that her care for her staff and residents doesnt go unnoticed. For these reasons, I feel Sara should be NRHH's RA of the Month. p.s. ur a great ra sara! love u girl! ;)

Reason: Opening day 2nd semester found the Snarr staff short one female staff member. About a week later we met our new staff member Stephanie Katzenmeyer. She came into a difficult situation and handled it phenomenally. Not only did she fit in well on her floor, but also she has been a fantastic edition to our staff. She always has a smile on her face and is full of energy. I worked the desk shift before her and she often came early, which was so nice as Thursdays were my busy days. She stepped into the position with little training as she missed opening in the spring. She often helps other people with their stuff and I know she is always willing to help people out on rounds. I am so glad that Steph has been a part of our staff this year. As a freshman she has a lot of drive and potential to achieve so many things. She is mature and responsible and sometimes I forget that she is only a freshman because of her actions and dedication to this job, her friends and fellow staff members. I know Steph is going to be successful someday and I am so excited that she is taking over my floor next year because I know she will excel at it and be able to handle anything that comes her way.

Reason: ***opps I copied the wrong document last time - sorry people!! *** I had the opportunity to be a member of a fantastic community last year as a resident on 2nd South Snarr. The floor is a lot different this year but it is still an incredible floor. Haleigh does a great job on the floor through programs and just spending time with them. I have my old friends from that floor but through hanging out with them I have gotten to know other members of the floor and they are a lot of fun to be around. This is a group of individuals that are all very close and I see them in groups in Kise eating together all the time and when I am on their floor they are often in each other’s rooms as well. I feel so welcome when I spend time with them. This a great group of individuals who have definitely grown together as a community this year and I feel so honored to call them my friends.

Reason: This girl is a lot of fun to be around. I remember meeting her one of the first days of school this fall. She doesn’t live on my floor but spent so much time there first semester that sometimes I forgot she wasn’t a resident of mine. She actually lived on Casey’s floor, which is the floor below mine. From day one this girl has been very social in getting to know those around her. I love spending time with her. I see her all around campus and it totally makes my day, she always gives me a hug when I see her. Second semester she moved from 3rd floor to second floor, which enabled her to get to know even more people. I think she knows pretty much everyone in South Snarr as she lived on two different floors and spent a lot of time on my floor. I enjoy her enthusiasm and how involved she is with those around her. She is a member of 2nd South Snarr which is such a fabulous community and I think she is a great part of it!

Reason: Ashley has really been a great influence to me and her staff this month. She is getting geared up for summer, which she will be a summer RA, but still has time for her staff. She hangs out with staff members and just is enjoyable to be around. She is currently working on making a schedule for checkouts and it really has kicked her butt some nights, but she just sticks to it. She is very determined in her job and has such an enthusiasm for it. She is amazing to watch. Just watching her inspires others on her staff. She is also a great leader and has taken on a lot to help out the Ballard hall council. She is amazing with her staff as well. Letting her staff know how things are going and what they are doing well is what she is good at. She makes the residents comfortable in all that she does too. She is just an amazing individual and should really be considered for the Advisor of the Month.

Reason: Shantell has been an amazing executive board member for Dahl hall council. She has focused a lot of her attention on the work out room and purchased a lot of the supplies that it desperately needed. She has also worked hard on the budget and meet regularly with her Area Director to come up with what the true budget is. I know that her position is very stressful because of all the receipts that are made and not all of them get to her on time. She has worked extremely hard this semester and this month and deserves to be recognized for some of her efforts.

Reason: I am nominating Josey Fog and his Sand Volleyball Classic for social program of the month! Josey did an amazing job organizing this program. He took so much initiative and did so much work to bring residents across campus a great program. Most RAs focus their attention on doing floor programming. Not Josey, he went above and beyond in helping all of our RAs by putting together a campus wide program. Josey also dealt with a couple of big challenges with Sodexho not bringing the grills for the food and having SNOWFALL the week of the program. Josey trudged on and the sun came out to make for an incredible day with great participation. What a great way for residents to relieve stress before finals began! Great job, Josey! Reason: I am nominating Leslie Ince for executive board member of the month for her role as president of NRHH. NRHH has had its ups and downs this year with losing old members and electing new members and changing our membership election process. Leslie has been there through it all and always worked hard for us. As an advisor, Leslie was a huge blessing to me because I never had to worry about whether things were getting done. Leslie was always on top of things. Leslie not only benefited our organization but she has greatly benefited our department and our campus through her leadership and involvement. Reason: I would like to nominate Corey Schaffer’s clothing drive for community service program of the month! In trying to wrap up the Hall Olympics program, Corey wanted to provide each hall with one last opportunity to earn some big points for a good cause. The program made it easy for residents to donate their unwanted clothing instead of just throwing them out at the end of the year. Corey made a big push for the program and had tons of signs up all over our halls. The program was a huge success in collecting hundreds of clothing items and helping each of our halls to participate in the Hall Olympics. Great job, Corey! Reason: I would like to nominate Pat Walker for Spotlight of the Month for her position as the Assignments Coordinator for Housing. Pat is one of the busiest and hardest working people in our office. Not only does she work with the assignment and contract of every single student we have on campus but Pat also spends much of her time helping students who come into the office, answering their questions and directing them to the services they need—making her just have to work that much harder to complete the hefty task of making room assignments and organizing contracts. Pat is a friendly and fun-loving person, which we don’t always get to see because she’s always working so hard. Students can be very demanding of Pat but through it all, Pat stays positive and gets the work done. I don’t know what our office would do without Pat. Her dedication to her work makes our halls a better home for our students. She deserves to be recognized for it! Thank you, Pat!

Evan is an outgoing and fun person who you’ll always find out and about in NGH. He has been involved by attending floor programs, hall events, and being the most consistent attendee at NGH Hall Council. I wish every student would put in just half the effort Evan does in being visible and involved in his community. Evan’s positive attitude and friendly hello’s always make my day! Reason: Jen Spencer has been an incredible president for NGH Hall Council. She came in at the beginning of this semester after our past president moved to another building. Her great energy and sense of humor benefited NGH Hall Council and I can’t believe we ever made it without her. Jen made our meetings go smoothly and quickly but always made them fun with her quirky humor and her great ideas! She always made students feel comfortable and welcomed at hall council by supporting their ideas and give them a voice. Jen helped NGH residents have some great programs to attend to help them socialize and have some fun. NGH Idol, the variety show, and the study buck auction were big successes led by Jen and the other exec board members. Reason: I would like to nominate Nikki Thibodeau for RA of the Month for her commitment to helping out her fellow RA’s. With Easter break being a longer than usual this year, most of the NGH staff wanted to go home to be with their families…meaning that someone had to stick around to help cover desk and duty. Nikki really stepped up to the plate to help everyone out taking not only the weekend’s duty but the following Sunday and Monday nights. She also took a ton of desk hours. This was a big sacrifice for anyone to make! Nikki is always there for her fellow staff to help out with duty, desk, round, or even just to put a smile on your face with her incredible energy and sense of fun! She’s visible on her floor and a great support to her residents as well. I am so thankful to have Nikki on the NGH staff and glad to have her come back next year!

(other than the NRHH members ;) Although most of the residents including myself are all returners from last year the time they have all spent together will be remembered for the rest of their lives. I have visited other floors and have seen nothing that compares to relationships that the residents have with each other. Reason: Jeanette has done an amazing job as an RA. Without hesitation, she kicked off the year with pulling her floor together to decorate for Hall Olympics. The amount of time and effort put into all the decorations is priceless and as a result, the floor looks amazing! If Spain's country colors draped across every door doesn't prove it, the bull in the lounge does. Secondly, Jeanette spent countless hours putting together an amazing program, "The Amazing Race". She put in so much time and heart into this program. She should be awarded for this program alone. She is also there for her floor for support and advice, with her door open and a smile on her face. Plus, she gives treats to the on-duty RAs. That's amazing itself! All together, Jeanette is an amazing RA and it is a pleasure to be on staff with her!

This entails extra tasks related to implementing the goals of the honors program. Recently her floor has been taking on additional residents that aren’t in the honors program. Rachel is doing a great job at making sure everybody feels welcome in her floor community while still accomplishing the goals of the honors program. Reason: Andrew has had a great impact on this floor. He was the only one out of 29 residents to have a "no-show" roomate. Yet is always the one to initiate an activity with the others. Andrew attends tons of On-Campus activities and is really the back bone of the community on 1st East Snarr and really deserves recognition.

Reason: 1st East Ballard is an awesome floor. The story goes that no one on the floor opened their doors for the first couple weeks of school. Then one resident suggested making a video for a video competition. So they started figuring out what they wanted to do. When they finally had a great idea they knocked on everyone’s door and asked them to be in it. Almost every resident was in on the video. I will say they made a funny video and used every single room on the floor. Now the floor is full of excitement and dragon pride. I had the privilege to go to the Dragons homecoming game and cheer with some of them. They were all painted and making chants up on the spot together. They eat at Kise together all the time and seem to always be laughing about something. I’d have to say this floor defiantly connected on a level most floors don’t get to in the first month of school. In my mind, that makes them the floor of the year.

Reason: Nina Johnson deserves to be the advior of the month because she is AMAZING! Nina is such a hard worker and I feel so lucky to get to work with her again as an Area Director. I could not have asked for a better person to work with! She is a very dedicated person, not only in NGH, but to all the complexes. Ever since we lost an Area Director, Nina has been there to help support everyone. She has been doing the work of two people! Nina has been a wonderful role model for us all this year and has worked very hard to build a strong bond with the Resident Assistants and Complex Coordinators of all the building. She has also worked extra hard to get to know the residents that live in our buildings too. She always has her door open and a smile on her face when you come and visit her. Every time I see Nina, she always makes me laugh! Through all of the stuff the Nina has been through this year, she still always has a positive attitude!! In our staff meetings, Nina is always very organized and has a lot of important information to tell us. She gives us time to talk with other people on staff about ideas we have on certain topics and encourages people to share their thoughts and ideas! Nina has the biggest heart of anyone that I have met! She is always so accepting of everyone and never puts anyone down. By setting a wonderful example and being an amazing role model, Nina encourages us to be the best person we can be each and every day! Pretty much to some it all up.....I heart Nina!

She is always in a good mood and you can tell that she loves her job. I can always tell when Teri has been in the bathrooms because they look spotless when she leaves. Thats pretty amazing considering that the bathrooms in Grantham get really nasty in the matter of one day. Thanks for all of your hard work so far Teri, all the residents of Grantham really appreciate it!

Reason: Ever since meeting Katie at the end of spring semester last year, she has shown me the potential she has to be the student of the month for Snarr. She is always so kind to her fellow colleagues. She has shown me her ability to be a strong leader by being the Vice President of Snarr Hall council, and being one of the leaders on my floor by always attending programs and getting others to attend. Also, when she is on the floor, she confronts issues that arrive on the floor independently. She has been through a rough time the last couple of weeks with her roommate and has made a conscious effort to make things work out, even without the cooperation of her roommate. Not only does she have the stress of her roommate, but she also has a job at the Alumni Foundation, and is taking 19 credits with two 300 level Spanish courses. She continues to succeed in her classes even though she has a limited time frame to do so. She goes out of her way to help others, and has great initiative and drive to do things that she wants/or doesn’t want to do. She continues to have a smile on her face day after day, even if she is having a bad day. This is why I feel that Katie Staley should be Student of the Month for Snarr.

Reason: I believe that Mark Thompson deserves to be spotlight of the month because he is an awesome GMW! He goes out of his way to help others and make sure that people are satisfied with his work. He has went through a lot this past month with South Snarr and the bathrooms being messy, but he continues to be up beat, and keep a positive attituide. He does everything in his power to make sure that everything is as clean as it can be. When the pipes in the bathroom on 4th South Snarr backed up in the showers, Mark stayed for a couple hours past his shift to make sure that the bathroom was in good shape for the weekend so that the girls could use it. This is what makes Mark amazing, and this is why I think he deserves to be Spotlight of the Month.

Reason: I would like to nominate Lawrence Stahl to be the RA of the month because of his commitment to the community and to the education of residents about life. Lawrence works hard to get his residents motivated and attending various activities and programs. If one was to go onto Lawrence’s floor he or she would see a variety of different Asian phrases, stories, and pictures. This makes sense since he is continually staying busy with multiple clubs such as the Korean club (which he just helped plan and organize a Korean club party) and Chinese Club (which he is currently planning a large event for). Lawrence’s perseverance to get people up and excited about different cultures around the world just astounds me. Not only is Lawrence a great motivator and culturally diverse person, he is a great RA. Even though Lawrence is very busy with the multiple aspects in his life he still manages to be an amazing leader on his floor and among his staff. He is a strong voice in hall council, with him being in every committee so far this year. He has helped create a great float and is helping with the uber Halloween haunted house of justice in Ballard. The most amazing thing that I have noticed with Lawrence is that he always tries to put on a smile and even if he is busy and stressed he manages to say thank you and he notices the good things that are going on. These are some of the reasons I believe Lawrence should be RA of the month.

Reason: 3rd Floor Nelson has been through so much as a floor, especially with losing an RA and gaining a new RA. Even without having an RA for almost a month, the floor stuck together and bonded unlike any other floor. Every time I am on the floor doors are open and everyone is hanging out. They decorated for the Hall Olympics floor contest together and even placed. They have also adapted to a new RA very well. I don't think I have ever seen such a cohesive community in the three years I have been in the residence halls. They definitley deserve community of the month for September.

She has established a great relationship with them and continues to get them involved in activities. She is always willing to help out when needed and despite having someone tear down her bulletin board, she still had a smile on her face and kind words to speak. Jeanette did an incredible job with decorating her floor for hall olympics and has always had great programming ideas. She is a strong leader on staff, and is always one to help out a fellow RA. Reason: I think that The amazing race was an amazing program (no pun intended). Jeanette Baker and Evan Wicker put on a program for all of the students in the residence halls. During the amazing race, student formed teams of 5-6 and went around to different challenges in and outside of the dorms. It was a great way to get students to know the other residence halls on campus and to get them thinking a little bit. I also thought it was great that they did it on a weekend, so that those students that stayed on campus would have something to do! I hope that you will consider The Amazing Race for the program of the month! Jeanette and Evan...You did a great job!

Reason: I think that Brooklyn deserves to be exec board member of the month because she is doing a great job as Vice President for Snarr Hall Council this year. In the beginning, people under estimated her abilities, questioning whether she was into it or not, because she was a little confused about what Hall Council was and how it worked, but she proved everyone that under estimated her wrong, and has done a fabulous job so far. She helps in all the activities that Hall Council puts on, she goes around to get people to Hall Council, and gives her input on things. She has also attended most of the RHA meetings, as a part of her job. She has taken the role of a Vice President to another level, and I give her props for that. She not only has all her Hall Council things to do, but she also continues to keep her studies up, and work at her job in her spare time. She is a great asset to the Snarr Hall Council, and I look forward to spending the rest of the year with her, and the future, where there are plenty of other leadership opportunities awaiting her. Thanks for your hard work Brooklyn! It 's appreciated!

Reason: I believe that Quintin Dimmerson deserves to be RA of the Month. At the beginning of the year, Quintin had a long road ahead of him with an all male floor in South Snarr. Things didn't go exactly how he expected them to, or how he wanted them to, but he continued to hold his head up, and look past all of the things that have happened on his floor and not judge his residents based on the past. I believe that Quintin has developed an amazing community. They are always hanging out with one another and just having a great time, and that happened with the help of Quintin. Quintin gets his residents involved in Hall Olympics, hence the reason why he has the most points in snarr, but he does it in a way that makes most of his residents want to attend. I don't know how he does it but he does it! I believe that Quintin has went beyond the role of an RA, and has gone out of his way to make sure things are getting done, and getting done the right way. Not only does Quintin have the role of being an RA, but he also has a lot of tough classes that he is CONSTANTLY studying for when he is not helping a resident, and a job that he works on the weekends. This is why I believe that Quintin deserves to be RA of the Month. Thank you Q for all that you have done! You are amazing and keep it up! The work that you do is appreciated by many even if you don't think it is! Keep it up!!!

He has lead A Halloween haunted house committee and also been persistent in making sure all the financial situations are planned out very well within Ballard. He is great at being an independent learner. If he has questions about anything he will go ask people and solve the problem he needs to solve. I also have come across the knowledge that he is an Office Assistant also. He is a man that is greatly involved with the residence halls. Date(s) of program: 9/26-9/27 Cost of program: ? Short Description (max 400 words): The program was held at Talley Student Center. It had a fair type atmosphere to it. You went and got your tickets there and with your tickets you got access to all of the food and games. You could use your tickets to get all sorts of fair food. They had turkey legs, corn dogs, pizza, chic-fil-a, cotton candy, caramel apples, funnel cakes, and fried candy bars. They also had free lemonade and drinks. All of this was just outside the building downstairs. They had some seating where you could sit eat your food and talk to friends. After you got your fill of food you went back inside and could get some free movie posters. They had all sorts of games. There was a moon bounce, a jousting blow up game, and all sorts of other games made up by different campus organizations. You played these games to earn tickets. After earning five tickets you went and spun a prize wheel. You could win all sorts of movie related prizes from a big table. Also in addition to the food and games they had an area where they were showing super hero movies the whole night. Last but not least they had an artist who was drawing caricatures for no charge. Word Count: 212 Origin of Program (max 200 words): The Union Activities Board develops and carries out social and cultural programs for the benefit of the members using University Student Center facilities. The Student Centers Board of Directors represents the fee-paying students, as well as faculty, staff, and special members, to ensure that both the facilities and the social and cultural programs are operated in their best interest. The UAB has a films committee which works with our on campus theater. This is who came up with the idea of the program. They were promoting both the campus cinema and the UAB itself through the program. Word Count:97 Goals of the Program (max 200 words): The goals of this program were simple. The union activity board has a goal of throwing social programs for the benefit of the students of NC State University. The UAB was benefiting students by providing them with a fun and festive event to go to. It was near Halloween so they had a costume contest. They gave students an alternative to doing traditional Halloween activities giving them a safe environment. In addition to providing this fun social program for students the UAB wanted to promote both its own organization as well as other campus organization. They supported the campus cinema through this. There was a great deal of publicity for the event and for both organizations up to and during the event. Word Count: 122 Positive and lasting effects of the program (max 200 words): This program had several positive lasting effects. First it provided many residents with information that they should know. It informed them of all the opportunities that the Union Activity Board and campus cinema make available to them just by being students. Secondly this program ensured that people were safe and that they would not get injured on the weekend before Halloween. Most times many students participate in some dangerous activities this time of year, this gave them a safe alternative. The last effect that I noticed was that the residents in attendance were seen socializing and having a good time. This tells me that some new friendships were made and relationships were formed. This is perhaps the most lasting effect of the program the memories made and good times. Word Count:129 Short Evaluation of the program (max 200 words): This program was a huge success. It had great attendance with a huge number of students attending. While there all of the goals of the program were met. This program provided all of the students with a safe environment. It also had numerous booths there with information on various campus organizations. While there I felt like I learned some more about some of the groups who were sponsoring some of the games. Also the most successful aspect of the program was the social aspect. Before the program I did not here o many people mention the all night bash but afterwards many of my residents brought it up to me how much they enjoyed going and hanging out there. This event even helped many students meet new people. I had students from different floors and different buildings accompany my own residents at the event. I got to know all of these new people and made some new friends that night. Word Count: 160 How could this be adapted on other campuses (max 200 words)? This program could very easily be held at other campuses. It does not even have to be adapted very much. To be held at another campus equivalent of the UAB would just have to contact the organizations necessary to throw the party. You need to find the people to do the fair food and other refreshments. You also need to get different organizations to agree to put on different games where students can win tickets. Other than these things there is no reason why other campuses could not have this event. Word Count: 91

Reason: Elicia Hay turned 21 in October and she had a campus wide event that was sponsored by NGH and RHA which was open to the whole campus. The purpose of this social event was to celebrate turning 21 without alcohol and proving that you can still have a good time. There were a few speakers who were talking about Alcohol Awareness and how individuals don't have to consume alcohol in order to have a good time. I think this was a good way to let people know things out there that are happening on campus and things that can be prevented.

Reason: Cordell has been awesome to have living on 3rd Grantham this year. He is a Gateway student and is working very hard at school while being an active resident in the halls. He's always inviting people from the floor to go out eat at kise or go lift or just hang out. He helps build a strong community. He helps the floor by keeping other residents accountable for their actions, he's a good role model for the residents; he is always up late sometimes till 3 or later and still happy as can be and is never too loud, also, he helps with programs on campus; He took 3 hours out of his time to help with "knocked up night" and got pretty much nothing in return. I never hear him complain and he says he’s always willing to help.

Reason: SOCIAL EVENT OF THE MONTH I would like to nominate RHA's "Casino Night" for Social Program of the Month. Casino Night was held in Dahl Hall on October 20th and attracted 131 residents to its grounds. RHA is all about bringing the students together and they do this in many ways, including sponsoring events, like The Amazing Race, and 21st Birthday without the 21 shots, but in an even better way when they host there Who’s Your Daddy events each month. Casino night was that event for October and there were people there from every residence hall. There was food, mingling, fun, karaoke, and prizes! All the right stuff, for the right price, free, for the perfect social event on campus. It was a safe, fulfilled Saturday night for everyone that everyone enjoyed. I believe the Casino Night committee did a great job and many would agree. I believe this was the most social event on campus in October and deserves the Social Program of the Month for October.

Reason: I don't even know where to start on this. She is amazing! RHA hasn’t had a NCC since 2004 and she happily took the position before she even knew what it entailed. This pat weekend wouldn’t have happened if not for her dedication to her position, organization, and school. This past weekend we attended the MACURH conference in Fargo, ND, which Minnesota State University Moorhead RHA hasn’t been a part of since it was held in Nebraska in 2003. Without her hard work and determination we wouldn’t have been able to obtain all the needed materials, get endless forms turned in, and correspond to the constant email to and from the program manager. Thanks to her we were able to attend the conference and gain a lot of new ideas and program that we will be able to put on for the college. The best part about it is that she didn’t stop when the conference was over. She is now working on getting us affiliated with the National Association of College and University Residence Halls, and wont stop until we are affiliated. She is also an amazing representative for the organization as a whole. She has done her share, and more, at all of the events RHA has hosted those year and buts all of her spirit into the. For these reasons and many more, I believe executive board member of the month should go to RHA’s NCC, Marissa Maiers.

Reason: I think Sadie Carter should be executive board member of the month, because she has been a great leader for Snarr Hall Council. Sadie is the only returning member of hall council. This years she was elected President, and is excelling at it. She is dedicated and willing to help anybody out when they don't understand what is going on. Her past experiences allow her to have a hand up. She did an exceptional job helping to organize the Halloween carnival in Snarr as well. These are just a few of the reasons that I think Sadie should be executive board member of the month.

Reason: I feel that Steph should be RA of the month for October. Steph is an amazing leader, taking the whole staff under her wing. She is more then willing to help her fellow staff members out, whether it is teaching them how to do something or covering a shift. Her selflessness is evident, and her co-workers have noticed it this is shown by their nominations of her staff member of the week repeatedly. Great job Steph, keep up the great work!!

Reason: Steph Katzenmeyer's performance as an RA has been above and beyond much of what is directly expected of her. She is genuinely concerned for her residents and at the same time handles the technical aspects of her job, such as duty shifts and desk hours, in an enthusiastic and motivated manner. Stephanie not only keeps her floor informed of what is going on on campus by hanging flyer's, she is willing to give one-on-one individual time to a resident as well. Near the beginning of the year she was participating in several meetings with two former room mates to help council their conflicting situation. In that situation alone, she invested much of her personal time, effort, and concern. In concern of her duty shifts, just the other week, she received a page at around 1:30 in the morning. I coincidently encountered her on her exploration of the complaint and despite the hour being late, she had a smile on her face and was still willing to give me the time of day. Also, multiple times have I visited the Snarr desk 20 to 15 minutes before it was scheduled to open at 2:00pm to find Stephanie already in the office, sorting mail and putting forth an extra effort. She would even make comments in concern for who it was that would be working after her shift. Stephanie competently performs her job as an RA with such professionalism, as well as, enthusiasm that I feel strongly that she should be awarded the "Of the Month" recognition this month. She has a good heart and is a great RA. And if you haven't seen her fish... you probably should. They're pretty cool.

Reason: There are a few birthdays that mean a lot to poeple. Old enough to drive, go to r rated movies, smoke and the last being able to drink. It is the last rule that no longer applies when you urn 21. Most like to have a drink or 2 on thier birthday. But elicia gave up her 21st birthday to tell students about the problems with alchol. she had fun and games and a root beer keg. Most importantly se had 2 guest speakers that spoke about their lives and ow alcohol affected them

Reason: 3rd Grantham is the most united floor i have seen this year and also in past years. Everyone is included and everyone is involved in some way or another. Whether it be through sports, games, or any other activities. The all have created strong bonds between one another. I wanted to give them recoginition as it will be totally changed next semester. two rooms are moving into an apartment together and they are some of the most interactive on the floor.

He also is very effective in helping to run meetings for hall council. I have seen nothing but good work and leadership from Steve all year long and think he deserves to be NRHH's executive board member of the month.

I have many a time walked into my bathroom and shook my head at the mess that is made, but everyday after noon, it is so clean once again. Dwayne works so hard and he should be recognized for it. Reason: I would like to nominate Andrew Eull for Resident Assistant of the month because of his independent qualities and ability to interact very well with his floor. Andrew Eull’s floor is a very active floor among Ballard, I was surprised to see how fast his floor intermingled and I have no doubts that Andrew did not encourage it. Andrew is very independent and does not ask many questions. He seems to have overall common knowledge of how to handle situations amongst his floor. Also he is constantly playing video games and basketball and engaging in other activities with his residents. Also he goes in groups with his residents to go eat kise. He is a great example of being a friend/leader amongst his community.

Reason: Tate put on a Octobeard/Novembeard program in the middle of October to the middle of November. He got the majority of his floor to participate and created awards for everyone who participated. He even made a whole entire wall of his floor dedicated to Novembeards. The guys on his floor had a lot of fun with it and I know they appreciate the work he put into it. For this reason, Tate's Novembeard program should be social program of November.

Reason: Steve Ruckdashel deseves to be the Exec Board member of the mouth for November because he has been a great member this year. He is very involved in NGH's hall council, RHA, and Kise Committee. Steve is always at every meeting and has a lot of very imporant information to bring to each of the organizations. He is very active and has great ideas for programs to put on. Last monday, he had to run the hall council meeting and he did an amazing job! Reason: Megan and Tate have put on amazing programs this month. One of their programs that really sticks out in my mind is the program Grantham Olympics. It has been a great way to get all of the residents on 2nd Grantham involved with each other. It was a week long program. One night they all played rootbeer pong together and talked about alcohol education, another night they went the Nemzek and played Kickball for recreational, another night they rented out the Grantham lounge and all played pool together for a social program. They did an amazing job with putting everything together as far as making reservations, getting all of the stuff they need, and getting the residents to come to the programs. For these reasons, I feel that Tate and Megan's program should be either educational, recreational, or social program of the month!

Reason: Lawrence should be RA of the Month because he has used his gift of natural leadership and has developed an incredible floor community. Lawrence is involved in many campus activities yet is a great role model to fellow RA's when it comes to showing a healthy balance of school, extra curriculars, and RA obligations. Lawrence is a great part of the Dahl/Ballard staff and has always encouraged and challenged other staff members to become even stronger leaders. Lawrence also is so deserving of this award because he uses his on campus organizations and puts on great diversity programs for the residence halls. That is such an important thing that many RA's strive to achieve and lawrence has achieved these great programs on more than one occasion. Lawrence, as a second year RA has shown so much optimism, creativity, openness, and so many more qualities that we look for in student leaders and he is more than deserving of this award. Vote for Lawrence! :)

Reason: I would like to nominate 3rd floor Grantham for a number of reasons. I have had the privilege of living on 3rd floor this year and believe that the residents have made it one of the best floors on this campus. They love to play Halo, Guitar hero and the new Rock Band as a floor and involve anyone who wants to play. They even forced me to play Rock Band because I wasn’t staying involved enough. They play poker as a floor once a week and hang out talking until 2:00 am. There are always a few people in the study lounge talking or doing homework. Many of the residents help with setting up programs with their RA or by themselves. Of the 29 residents on the floor I can say that 24 of the residents are always active on the floor, have their doors open and are willing to just hang out and talk with one another. One thing that really shows the floor unity on third Grantham is when the floor decides to do something, everyone goes. When the residents eat together they almost always have to pull 2 tables together so everyone can fit. The last time I got to go and eat with the floor we almost had to pull a 4th table in so we could fit a little more comfortably.
